OK, so no beating around the bush, Lyre is really bad, arguably the worst unit in RD and probably belongs among the worst units in the series. Why? Well, I mean looking at her bases it should be obvious how she isn't going to be keeping up well with the enemies on normal mode, yet alone hard mode. Even her speed isn't that impressive as she joins with lower base speed than Mia, Ike and Shinon while transformed who are all units that joined several chapters earlyer than her. Lyre also cannot get access to forged weaponry, nor can she promote to get promotion bonuses, so the only way to have her contribute any way in combat is to give her a lot of BEXP and several statboosting items. Another problem is that Lyre is a laguz unit and laguz units are at a notable disadvantage compared to beroc units as they cannot attack on the first turn, are locked to 1 range which makes enemies with 2 range more likely to attack her, need to be in a lot of combat in ored to improve their bite, need to worry about their transformation gague running out and gain a low amounts of EXP while transformed. The worst part off all is that Lyre is a cat laguz and cat laguz suffer from comically low transformation gagues which means that unless you want a unit that is completely useless for a large portion of the level, you need to waste a bunch of player phase actions consuming olivi grass or other transformation items. And in the end even if you invest so many resources into Lyre she isn't going to be much more than a mediocre combat unit.
Lyre has thunder affinity which gives a defense and avoid boost. She sinergises well with Mia or Boyd as they have the useful faire affinity which gives additional atack, while they appreciate the defense and avoid boost, while Boyd and Mia also have the same movement as untransformed Lyre.
