- In Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light, promotion gains consist on giving the character as many points as necessary -the "x" value shown in the table- to reach the promoted class' base stats. If the character's stats are higher than their promoted class' base stats, they will not receive any bonus.
Analysis
This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience. |
All things considered, Caesar is the weakest of the six Mercenary- and Hero-class party members in Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light. His minor statistical advantages over Radd are offset by thoroughly-underwhelming growth rates across the board. While Radd, at least, is likely to catch up to his peers given the chance, Caesar's odds of doing the same are significantly dicier. Caesar will do in a pinch, and the nature of promotion bonuses in Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light allows him to quickly patch up any stats that may be lagging behind if he can make it to level 10, but any of the other five Mercenary-line characters will likely surpass him.

- In Mystery of the Emblem, promotion gains for HP and weapon level consist of giving the character as many points as necessary—the "x" value shown in the table—to reach the promoted class's base value. If the character's value for one of those two stats is higher than their promoted class's base value, they will not receive any bonus in that stat.

Analysis
This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience. |
Caesar joins in Chapter 8 as a level 3 Mercenary. He is underleveled, far away from promotion, and his base stats are low. His base speed is high enough to not get doubled by most enemies, but on higher difficulties, some enemies will start doubling him soon. Most enemies on higher difficulties kill him in two hits. His damage output is also not very high. He uses swords, which are the weakest weapon type in Shadow Dragon. Swords suffer weapon triangle disadvantage against lances, the most common enemy weapon type in the game. His base weapon rank is also low at D, which makes him unable to wield good swords that could circumvent his low Strength.
Because of how underleveled he is, getting Caesar to promotion and a higher sword rank will require time and effort. To put Caesar's weakness into perspective—his base stats are comparable to Ogma's and worse in some aspects. Considering Ogma joins six chapters earlier, this makes Caesar feeble at base level. With enough time and effort, Caesar can be trained—but if you want to play fast, he is not worth using.

Caesar |
From a Roman cognomen which possibly meant "hairy", from Latin caesaries "hair".[1] There are many alternate explanations that have been given, however. The most famous bearer of the name Caesar was the Roman emperor Gaius Julius Caesar of the family Julii Caesares, and due to him and his adopted son Octavian (known as Augustus Caesar, or "the majestic Caesar") who succeeded him, Caesar came to be a title referring to the Roman emperor, and also spread into other languages to be a generic term for emperor (such as the German word Kaiser). |
