The Golden Scheme (Japanese: 謀略の寵児 Star Strategy) is the eighteenth chapter of Fire Emblem: Three Houses on the Verdant Wind route.
Plot

The Golden Scheme/Script
The next obstacle on the road to Enbarr is the impregnable Fort Merceus, currently under the command of the Death Knight. Claude and Hilda decide to infiltrate Fort Merceus by disguising themselves as Imperial soldiers and having their Alliance allies stage an attack on them; Fort Merceus will open its gates to allow them in, and they will open the gates from the inside so the main army can storm the fort. Claude secretly rallies Almyran forces led by Nardel, who is revealed to be the famed Almyran general Nader. Together, the combined Alliance/Almyran army overruns Fort Merceus and defeats the Death Knight, who beckons them to pursue him as he escapes. He warns the Alliance to flee before they are all killed and escapes just as modern-day ballistic missiles (described by Nader as "javelins of light") obliterate Fort Merceus. The shocked and demoralized Alliance forces retreat to Myrddin, where Claude explains how he was able to secure Almyran aid. He declares his intention to tear down the barriers between Fódlan and the outside world.
