Beginning log
A mountain cave on the outskirts of Ostia. Here, a sacred weapon lies waiting, the seal guarding it broken. However, to retrieve the weapon, one must pass a trial. A long, seemingly uncrossable distance... Eliwood must overcome the challenge with the help of his friends. Eliwood's true strength will soon be sorely tested.

Trivia
- This chapter holds one of two obtainable rapiers in the entire game, the other found in Eliwood's inventory by default.
- Georg wields one of two obtainable tomahawks in the entire game, the other belonging to Kaim. It is impossible to obtain both tomahawks in a single playthrough.
- Georg's name bears resemblance to Jeorge, a playable sniper in Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light, Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem, Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon, and Fire Emblem: New Mystery of the Emblem.
- Contrary to some popular belief, the player does have access to a performing unit in this chapter, as this chapter is the one in Eliwood's tale where Nils rotates into Ninian's place in the party and is fully selectable, a role often wrongly attributed to the chapter two down the line. (This is also true for this chapter's counterpart in Hector's tale.)
- This chapter is the first one across both Elibe games where a character, in this case Nils, can both read the augury and subsequently be deployed onto the battlefield. (The Binding Blade's performer units are also augury readers, but that game has the character not actively performing as the augury reader, i.e. Elphin performing and Lalum reading the auguries or vice versa.)
