The Peddler Merlinus (Japanese: 行商人マリナスThe Peddler Merlinus) is chapter 13x in Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade and the first sidequest of Eliwood's and Hector's tale.
To play this chapter, you must visit the northern village in the previous chapter.
Hector and Eliwood are preparing to camp outside a Caelin village for the night. Eliwood entertains the thought of visiting Castle Caelin to check on Lyn, but in the midst of his pondering, the two lords hear a scream. They follow the scream to its source and find a merchant being harassed by a group of bandits. Eliwood and Hector attempt to intervene but the bandits’ leader Puzon mistakes them for rival bandits attempting to steal their target, thus beginning the battle.
The bandits eventually tire of fighting and flee the battlefield, still believing that Eliwood and Hector are bandits. The merchant intorduces himself as Merlinus, thanks the two lords for coming to his aid and attempts to give them a token of his thanks. Hector rejects Merlinus’s token and, instead, asks him if he would like to accompany him on his and Eliwood’s journey to manage their merchandise. Merlinus gladly accepts Hector’s offer.
