Plot

If Byleth is a member of the Golden Deer, Claude offers his condolences about Jeralt's death and borrows his diary to find out more information about Byleth and the Church of Seiros. Meanwhile, the Flame Emperor, Monica, and the mage who rescued her, now identified as Thales, meet outside Garreg Mach Monastery. Thales, referring to Monica by the name of Kronya, recounts how the Flame Emperor is their greatest creation and is to cleanse Fódlan and bring salvation with their power, but the Flame Emperor expresses disgust at their actions in Duscur and Enbarr and refuses to play along with their schemes. If Byleth is a member of the Blue Lions, they and Dimitri eavesdrop on this conversation, but the three disappear before they can act. Dimitri discovers a dagger that the Flame Emperor dropped, seemingly recognizes it, and decides to hold on to it. Garreg Mach enters a state of mourning in response to Jeralt's death as the Knights of Seiros sortie to investigate his murderers.

At the end of the month, the lord character reveals that the killers have been spotted in the Sealed Forest outside the monastery and that Rhea intends to deal with them without Byleth. Rhea explains that she is worried the enemy is using their hunger for revenge to bait them into a trap, but the lord convinces her to allow them to go by pointing out that Byleth is the only Relic-wielder on hand and that they cannot leave the monastery undefended. Byleth and the students storm the forest and confront and badly injure Kronya. As she attempts to flee, Solon appears and betrays her, using her as a sacrifice to fuel a dark ritual and imprison Byleth in a realm of darkness.

In the realm of darkness, Sothis angrily berates Byleth for their recklessness. She remembers that she is the goddess of Fódlan and that Rhea somehow sealed her inside Byleth when they were an infant, and explains that the only way to escape is for Byleth to absorb her individuality and power. Byleth and Sothis merge, granting Byleth extreme power, and they escape from the realm of darkness and slay Solon, who in his dying breath declares that Thales will carry out their mission. After the battle, during a conversation with the lord character, Byleth collapses from exhaustion. They wake to hear Rhea singing for them, and Rhea reveals that she always hoped that the power of Sothis would reside in them.

Strategy

Main article: Where the Goddess Dwells/The Sealed Forest Snare

This month, since Shamir, Catherine, Alois, and Gilbert are off hunting for Jeralt's killers, they cannot participate in monastery activities or the monthly battle, and you cannot return lost items to them. Of the remaining faculty, Seteth, Hanneman, Manuela, and Rhea, none can tutor the heavy armor skill through Faculty Training, and lance, axe, bow, and riding are each only taught by a single person, Seteth for the former two and Hanneman for the latter. It's also worth noting that this month is the deadline to complete Tales of the Red Canyon, so if you haven't done that yet, make sure to do so.
