Plot

Main article: Champions of Aurelis/Script

Marth reaches Aurelis Castle, where the king's younger brother Hardin and the Archanean princess Nyna have been doggedly resisting Macedon's attempts to conquer it. Marth's arrival brings much relief to the beleaguered Hardin, who immediately sets out with his guerilla group to meet him. When the two meet, Hardin cedes command of the group to Marth, and the two break the Macedonian hold on the castle entrance. The king of Aurelis congratulates Marth, but warns him to be wary as Macedon continues to hold the castle interior.

Strategy

This section details unofficial strategies that may help with completion of the chapter. This may not work for everybody.

You are allowed only 10 units in battle preparations, so it's time to start seriously culling your units. Marth (the main character), Caeda (Wing Spear access, supports Marth, and almost immune to the RNG), Barst (best axe user), Julian (best Thief), Lena (best medic), and Merric (best Mage) are all irreplaceable. Beyond that, pick your four favorite units. If you are still using Jagen, it is wise to reclass him to Dracoknight for this chapter so he can fly over the mountains and help support Hardin and co. Bear in mind that for the rest of the game, swords are the weakest weapon type due to the fact that only a handful of chapters deploy axe users in any significant number and the only ranged option for swords is the rather rare Levin Sword, which runs off of a Magic stat that none of your sword users will have. Also beware that in Shadow Dragon's H5 difficulty, the enemy starts using Steel weapons on a regular basis.

Your new units are Hardin, a powerful Cavalier with weapon levels equal to Jagen; Roshea and Vyland, two more wimpy Cavaliers who pale in comparison to Abel and Hardin; Wolf and Sedgar, two Horsemen with terrible base stats but monstrously high growth rates; and Wendell, a Sage who serves as another Jagen-type character due to his high speed, good tome rank, and ability to function as a healer.

At the beginning of the chapter, your biggest problem is saving Hardin and his companions, who are cut off from your forces and about to be attacked by a group of enemies who will carve them to pieces. Stuff Hardin's group in the southeast corner of their area as tight as you can. Caeda (and Dracoknight Jagen, if you fielded him) should immediately join Hardin's group. Send a cavalry unit up to the north to protect the village from the approaching Thieves. Make sure to provoke the northeast Pegasus Knight on turn 2, or else your Cavalier could get overrun. If everything goes right, nobody should come after Hardin's group (or at the worst, maybe a stray archer). Have Marth's group lure the incoming cavalry rush away on turn 3, or your Cavalier is going to get ripped a new butthole. If you can defeat the cavalry rush without losing a unit, you've beaten the hardest part of the chapter.

After the aggressive units are dead, have Hardin regroup with Marth, heal, and save. Moving anywhere 13 spaces or closer away from the western Pegasus Knight will provoke the two Knights and the Pegasus Knight without endangering your units. The spot left of the second save point and the spot two spaces below the southwestern fortress are good places to trigger this. Pull them in, take them out, and shred Merach with Merric's magic. If you choose to fight the reinforcements, bunker down with your meat shields in the northern mountain pass and have your archers fight the Pegasus Knights. You should have little trouble at this point.
