The [[Altea]]n Army arrives at the floor where the Dark Pontifex [[Gharnef]] resides. [[Marth]] demands to know where his sister and the other clerics have gone. Gharnef tells him they will serve as a sacrifice for [[Medeus]]'s awakening, and that their souls have been broken.

After defeating Gharnef, Marth and his troops climb more stairs to get to Medeus.

The Dark Pontifex Lives (Japanese: 魔王再び The Demon King Again) is the twenty-third chapter of Fire Emblem: New Mystery of the Emblem. In Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem Book II, the same map is the second of three maps comprising The Dragon Altar, the second "endgame" chapter.

Plot

Main articles: The Dark Pontifex Lives/Script and The Dark Pontifex Lives/Conversations

The Altean Army arrives at the floor where the Dark Pontifex Gharnef resides. Marth demands to know where his sister and the other clerics have gone. Gharnef tells him they will serve as a sacrifice for Medeus's awakening, and that their souls have been broken.

After defeating Gharnef, Marth and his troops climb more stairs to get to Medeus.
