Iote (Japanese: アイオテ Iote) was the first king of Macedon.
Biography
During the War of Liberation, Iote was but one of many slaves of the Dolhr Empire, dispatched to the untamed forests of Dolhr's southern reaches. In time, he and some of his fellow slaves escaped captivity, learned to tame and ride the wild wyverns of the region, and commenced a rebellion against Dolhr.[1]
In the year 503, five years after the downfall of Dolhr and the end of the War of Liberation, Iote founded the kingdom of Macedon and became its first king.[1] The shield he used in his rebellion became known as Iote's Shield and was one of the national treasures of Macedon.[2] Over a century later, Iote's descendant Michalis, who was the king of Macedon during the War of Shadows, was regarded as the second coming of Iote.[1]
