“ | I am proud of my father, and I stand by his decision—despite the grief it brought me personally. Long have I endured the Empire's tyranny, comforted by the belief that we would meet again—and now that day has come. | ” | — Linoan |

Linoan (Japanese: リノアン Linoan) is the Duchess governing the Free City of Tarrah in the Munster District, a distant relative of Grannvale's House Belhalla and a bearer of Naga Holy Blood. A friend and ally of the fugitive Prince Leif of Leonster, she governed Tarrah following her father's death, withstanding years of Grannvale oppression toward the city and assassination attempts against her culminating in a final bid to invade in Grann 776. She was long betrothed to Prince Arion of Thracia, who sent Deen to aid her and act as a bodyguard.[1]
Biography
When Leif's rebel army arrived in Tarrah in Grann 776, during an attempted invasion of the city by the Friege army, Linoan was there to greet him and implored his assistance in repelling the siege. Near the end, she arranged a deal with Arion to surrender Tarrah to Thracia in order to protect it from Grannvale and the Bergrosen, and fled the city along with Leif's army and her citizens.

Analysis
This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience. |
Linoan joins during the mid-game, under-leveled with low bases but good growths. She also joins with a notable C-rank in staves, perfect for the plethora of useful staves in her inventory. Due to the power of staves in Thracia 776, Linoan's staff level is highly valued. The most important stat—besides magic—that Linoan needs to raise is her skill, as staves can miss in Thracia 776. Fortunately, skill is her best growth, and the Od Scroll can help to get her skill to 10 faster.
Her B-rank in light magic lets her use Nosferatu at base (one of two only available types of light magic tomes), with the only other units who can immediately use the tome without significant weapon experience grinding being Saias, Ced, and Homer, the former two only being available late and the latter requiring a promotion. Nosferatu combined with Wrath is very important for taking care of enemy Hel mages, who are otherwise incredibly dangerous to face. However, she starts with an E-rank in all three types of Anima magic; her E-rank in Wind magic in particular notably prevents her from using any Wind magic until promotion, due to the lowest ranked and lightest tome, Wind, requiring a D-rank.
Linoan cannot promote with a Knight Proof, and instead needs to promote at the church in Chapter 21. While she does not need to reach level 10 to promote, if she reaches B-rank in staves before promotion, she will be granted an A-rank upon promotion. However, even with a B-rank (which is automatic with her base C-rank) she will be able to Silence dangerous enemy staff users during the late-game. Because of the promotion bonuses she gets, along with Adept, immediate access to Nosferatu, and her amazing FCM of 5, Linoan can serve as a good combat unit as well, even before promoting. She has poor durability and cannot safely engage with multiple enemies at 1-range, but because of the low quality of most enemies in Thracia 776, she can one-round a good number of enemies upon promotion.
Fire Emblem Engage

Personality
Linoan is devoted to the people of Tarrah and views their well-being as paramount, above even her own life, and thus regrets any action which leaves her safe while they remain in peril.[2] Following her father's death, she lost the family manse and was subject to two years of abusive treatment from a Grannvale administrator who restricted her movements and regularly demanded information on Leif's whereabouts from her. Deen's support, both moral and defensive, helped her maintain her composure throughout this time.[1]

Linoan, Blossoming Flower of Tarrah
Linoan returned to Tarrah and set about rebuilding the war-torn city. She guided Tarrah into an unprecedented era of prosperity, secretly using her wealth to support Leif's reign. Despite being praised for her beauty throughout her life, she never married. Her marital status—or lack thereof—became the subject of constant gossip.
