Analysis
This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience. |
Perne is excellent at stealing items from enemies. His constitution is high enough to steal Warp staves if he receives the Body Ring. He can steal tomes and Rewarp staves, and also open chests and doors, like Lifis. Since all these functions are very useful in Thracia, Perne is an excellent utility unit.
Perne has five action stars, giving him a 25% chance to move again after completing an action. This is not a reliable mechanic, but it can be useful once it triggers. Perne can steal twice in one player phase, or open two doors/chests.
With Sol and Vantage, Perne has decent combat, especially if he wields a good weapon. His B rank in swords is good enough to use most swords in Thracia. While Sol is unreliable, it can sometimes help Perne survive a group of enemies. Perne also has an FCM of 5, giving him a high crit chance on follow-up attacks. With 14 base speed, Perne is fast enough to double many foes, allowing him to take advantage of his FCM.
Perne also has solid growths. If he equips Crusader Scrolls and levels up with them, he will improve a lot as a combat unit. That said, since Perne's defenses are rather low, exposing him to enemies is always a risk to some degree.
Perne joins with the King Sword, a powerful brave sword granting Charm to its wielder. It has 13 might and 20 crit, and Perne is a good user of it. His high FCM, Sol and Vantage make him good at enemy and player phase combat while he wields it. That said, many other units with a C rank in swords can use this weapon well.
Personality and character
Perne is rather unusual, being portrayed as morally ambiguous. On on hand he's shown to be a fair and charismatic leader of the Dandelion Gang which, according to August, steals from greedy nobles not for personal benefit, but to obtain loot to distribute to poor villagers. Perne has also earned a reputation of being a "good thief" by the villagers residing in Dacia Forest. Perne has also saved Salem from the Loptyrian Cult without expecting anything in return and releases Lara from her troupe upon relaising her young age and sends her to Munster. On the other hand Perne is shown to keep slaves in the form of female dancers around his manor. Adding more to the moral ambiguity of Perne is his strange relationship with Lifis. He's known Lifis from a young age and used to be one of his many childhood bullies, and was often the instigator of such conflicts. Perne has also kidnapped Tina and forced her to use her Thief staff by dangling various insects in front of her face, causing her to obey out of her fear of bugs.
