Dorothy (Japanese: ドロシー Dorothy) is a playable character in Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade. She first appears in Chapter 5. She is an Etrurian archer who works for the Elimine Church. Under the orders of Father Yoder, she and Brother Saul join Roy's army to keep an eye on the Fire Emblem.
Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade
Role
Dorothy is first seen in a small Lycian town, talking to Father Yoder about their mission. Yoder leaves shortly thereafter, and Dorothy runs off to look for Saul, who had disappeared. Dorothy finds him soon, and to her displeasure, the priest is trying to flirt with a village girl. After the girl leaves, Dorothy gives him the church's report, and then follows Saul, to see if they should join the Lycian Army. After Princess Guinivere's intentions are confirmed, Dorothy—as Saul's bodyguard—joins the army and stays there for the rest of the story.
Once Bern is defeated and the war is over, Dorothy returns to her hometown and carries on with her normal life.

Analysis
This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience. |
Dorothy joins in Chapter 6 of The Binding Blade as a level 3 Archer. She has a D rank in bows, which allows her to use the Steel Bow, Short Bow, and Longbow at base level. As Dorothy exclusively uses bows which only have 2-range, she cannot counter at 1-range, and is mostly limited to attacking on player phase. If she is attacked, she is likely to die—especially on Hard mode—as her HP, defenses, resistance, and speed are low.
Dorothy's has a base speed of 6 and strength of 5; she will struggle to deal significant damage to non-flying enemies, and will truggle to one-shot fliers even with bonus damage. For example, in Chapter 7 on Normal mode, Dorothy needs 36 attack to one-shot the weaker of the two Wyvern Riders present, or 23 attack and 8 attack speed to double and one-round; she needs four more points of strength from her base stats to one-shot with a Steel Bow, and 2 points of speed to one-round with an Iron Bow—the requirements are higher for the stronger Wyvern Rider and even higher for both on Hard mode, and she is unlikely to meet them. She also has the potential to miss, as the Steel Bow is inaccurate and one-rounding requires that both attacks hit.
Dorothy is not the only unit capable of wielding bows: Wolt joins earlier, though with lower bases; Sue and Sin are Nomads with mounts and gain 1-range after promotion, and Sue joins in the same chapter; and Klein and Igrene are pre-promoted Snipers and Dayan a Nomad Trooper, all with significantly higher base stats. Dorothy competes with the first three for access to their promotion item, Orion's Bolts, but offers little compared to the Nomads; she will function similarly to the Snipers after investment.
Personality and character
Dorothy is a shy and not very confident girl. She is fully aware of her limitations, but tries to make the best with what she has. Most of her support conversations have her being encouraged by the other person to be less shy,[1] or to trust more on her own fighting skills.[2] Her responses to those words of encouragement mark her as a rather positive and grateful person.
She shows a more outspoken side in her conversations with Saul, whose actions tend to upset her. Dorothy tries her best to keep him in line, as she fears that he is ruining the image of the Church; however, if Saul's excuses turn a bit more personal, Dorothy does not take it well and loses her calm altogether.[3]
Dorothy is a follower of Saint Elimine, and in her supports with Yoder, it is revealed that she in interested in healing magic; her inability to wield staves make her question her worth and faith, needing the help and guide of the elderly bishop to overcome her doubts.[4]
