The Wooden Cavalry/Script
Marth and his cohort begin the march towards Altea. They are faced with the Wooden Cavalry, Grust's artillery regiment. Marth elects to charge in and silence them from up close before they can do too much damage. After the battle, Nyna notices Marth is troubled; he explains that a commoner told him that Grust is divided about the war against Altea, causing him to doubt his own feelings of hatred towards Grust and Gra.

Strategy
This section details unofficial strategies that may help with completion of the chapter. This may not work for everybody. |
In this chapter you get Astram and Beck. Astram's base stats are utterly awful; they are comparable to Ogma and Caesar's average stats at level 10 unpromoted, making him less valuable than the swords in his pack. If you want to recruit him, you must deploy Midia, that sub-par Paladin you picked up in Chapter 12. Beck, on the other hand, is a powerful Ballistician. Anything that can be said about Jake applies to him, and the two can be used interchangeably or even in tandem. There are mercifully no reinforcements this chapter. Finally, note the many Arrowspate Ballisticians lurking about; Caeda and Minerva should be grounded or even benched for this chapter.
Since the three Ballisticians in the bottom row are all immobile, a cavalry rush can put them out of commission safely and efficiently. Armored units will be particularly effective in drawing out the enemy's artillery fire, allowing your squishier units a chance to zip in and pop them. Marth can also make for the village to recruit Beck, who comes with a Thunderbolt that does effective damage against enemy artillery. If you kill the guy with the Hoistflamme on the bottom row with someone with a full inventory and then transfer said Hoistflamme to the convoy, Beck can immediately take it from Marth and use it to good effect.
Once the initial rush is dead, you can start advancing by using Beck's Thunderbolt to wound the enemy Ballisticians and Jake to finish them off (or vice versa). Be careful with the enemy packing his own Thunderbolt, or you'll quickly find yourself short one artilleryman. Once he's dead and it's just down to Grigas and his three cronies, you can send in a General to help mop up.
