(Japanese: クリフ Qulyf) is a Zofian villager appearing in Fire Emblem Gaiden and Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia. He is from Ram and is one of the first people to accompany Alm.

Role

He is one of the first characters recruited in the game. He agrees to follow Alm and seize Zofia's castle at the beginning of the game. Aside from his recruitment he has no other dialogue or story role.

After the war, he says his farewells and vanishes to parts unknown.

• In Gaiden, promotion gains consist on giving the character as many points as necessary -the "x" value shown in the table- to reach the promoted class' base stats. If the character's stats are higher than their promoted class' base stats, they will not receive any bonus; however, if all stats are higher, then they will receive +1 to HP.

Analysis

Of the starting villagers, Qulyf is the best candidate to become a mage; this is due to his learned spells. Compared to Tobin's and Gray's lackluster spell lists, Qulyf learns more spells overall and at earlier levels. Additionally, Qulyf's only competition for mage are Luthier and Dyute, who both join much later in the game.

Fire Emblem Gaiden (manga)

right Like the game, Qulyf joins the Deliverance alongside Alm. As the Gaiden manga skips the opening events of the game, Qulyf's first appearance is after the liberation of Zofia castle. He has become a mage, and claims his gift for magic comes from his grandmother.

Shortly after freeing Zofia castle Alm learns that Dozer is holding Machilda hostage, and Alm insists that they rescue her immediately, Qulyf agrees to go on the rescue mission. During the fighting Qulyf helps Matilda, cheerfully mentioning that Clive was the one who was supposed to rescue Matilda.

While Qulyf is having a few words with Matilda he is killed by Dozer, who impales him with a lance from behind.

Trivia

• Qulyf is the only male character in Gaiden that can learn Aura.
• There is an imprisoned child with the same name in Chapter 4x in Fire Emblem: Thracia 776.
