Analysis
This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience. |
With poor stat growths and a concerning inability to absorb damage, Citrinne is one of the worst units in the game. As a magic damage dealer, she's completely outclassed by Anna, Chloé and Jean; even generalists like Lapis or Merrin can outperform Citrinne at magic because they are fast and durable enough to afford leveling up as a Mage Knight or even Sage whereas Citrinne is not. While Citrinne does join early enough to be useful for a few chapters, by mid-game she's likely to be little more than a drain on the Draconic Time Crystal's charges.
If the player wishes to salvage Citrinne, one way to do it would be to immediately promote her to Paladin, a class that allows her to contribute with a Levin Sword while giving desperately needed boosts to Spd, Def and HP growths; Citrinne's Mag growth as a Paladin will still be a respectable 55% with Tiki's blessing. Once she maxes out Paladin, she can reclass to Griffin Knight to enter the mid-late game as a serviceable Levin Sword bruiser with enough speed (26+0.65/level) to double many targets and, thanks to her past service as a Paladin, enough bulk to actually survive a round of combat. The investment involved is high, as Citrinne starts with low SP and will likely need to hoard Tiki's emblem for two missions at a time when better units are eager to do the same. Strategically, it makes more sense to have Citrinne do the exact opposite: give up on the late game and just soak up excess experience in the early chapters, when better units may still be benched pending reclass, or a tutoring session with Tiki.
Besides her personal ability which is generally much worse than just using staves, Citrinne does have two tricks up her sleeve that are worth mentioning. First, her support is of the useful balanced type and she can form support triangles with Chloé and Merrin, or Yunaka and Merrin, all good units. Second, she has a talent for tomes, which is of little use as of DLC wave 1 (only affecting the High Priest class which she can ill-afford to be in), but may be worth revisiting in future game versions.
Personality and character
Citrinne tends to be seen as haughty by others, but is actually kindhearted and cares about her friends.[1]
