List of characters in Fire Emblem: New Mystery of the Emblem: Heroes of Light and Shadow
This a list of all characters in Fire Emblem: New Mystery of the Emblem. This game has the largest number of playable characters in the entire series, surpassing even Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn. However, not all classes are represented by the playable cast by default; there are no characters with Dark Mage, Falcon Knight, Swordmaster or Pirate as their original classes. This can be overcome through reclassing.
Unlike its predecessor, New Mystery of the Emblem removed the sidequest access requirement of having only a small number of units still alive or recruited, making it possible to recruit all 77 playable characters in one playthrough.
Characters who are defeated in the prologue return in the main story.
