Calamity Gate (Japanese: 逆神・丑寅 Reverse God: Northeast) is a scroll that debuted in Fire Emblem Fates. The Scroll-equivalent of its predecessors, the Reaver weapons, Calamity Gate is a weapon that reverses the weapon triangle and doubles its effects, which makes it unusually strong against lances/naginata and daggers/shuriken while also making it unusually weak against axes/clubs and bows/yumi, and still neutral to swords/katana. In addition, it also provides small stat boosts.

Calamity Gate |
Possibly a reference to the 鬼門 oni's gate, a term for the northeastern cardinal direction which is tied to the origins of the scroll's Japanese name. |
Japanese |
逆神・丑寅 |
Reverse God: Northeast. The 丑寅 northeast suffix refers to an element of the folklore surrounding oni where the northeastern cardinal direction was regarded as unlucky and the origin of evil spirits. This direction was referred to by two names under this superstition: 鬼門 oni's gate, and 丑寅 ox-tiger, which derives from how these two signs of the Chinese zodiac are located in the northeast. Oni are often depicted as having the facial features of both tigers and oxen as a result of this. |
