The yumi (Japanese: 和弓 Japanese bow) is a physical weapon type which was introduced in Fire Emblem Fates. They are the Hoshidan counterpart to the bows used by Nohr and the series' other European-inspired realms. They share the same weapon rank as bows, and can be used just as easily by bow-wielding Nohr units and classes. Yumi have a minor advantage over ordinary bows in that they give their wielders small resistance boosts.

There are 21 yumi varieties available in Fates.

Overview

In most ways, yumi behave the same way as bows. They are affected identically by the weapon triangle, being strong against lances/naginata and daggers/shuriken, and weak against swords/katanas and tomes/scrolls. Yumi are slightly stronger than bows, with each yumi on average having a two-point might advantage over its bow counterpart, but they are also less accurate—each commonly has ten less hit than its bow counterpart. Like most Hoshidan weapon types, yumi give their users small stat boosts: every yumi increases its wielder's resistance stat by 2 points when equipped, unless the specific yumi has a conflicting effect.
