Griffin
Griffons (Japanese: グリフォン griffon) are a species of mythical winged beast in the Fire Emblem series. A hybrid animal combining body parts from both birds and beasts, it is used as a flying mount for combat. It was introducted in Fire Emblem Awakening, though it is absent from Fire Emblem Fates.
In terms of series history the griffon is a new creature that has little established lore. So far, only appearing in Awakening used by a single class. No characters start in the Griffon Rider class, causing fewer details to be known about this species in comparison to pegasi and wyverns.
Characteristics
Physical appearance
Griffons in the Fire Emblem series follow their traditional mythological counterparts closely. Through the front of a hawk and the rear of a lion they posses talons and a beak. Griffons seem to come in two colors, with the most common color being brown. Risen Griffon Riders appear riding a less common black griffon. They make an airy screeching sound when in combat.
Judging by the stats of the Griffon Rider class, griffons are apparently faster than wyverns.
Griffon-mounted classes
Only a single class so far has used this mount in the entire Fire Emblem series.
