The Bridge Key (Japanese: はね橋のカギ Drawbridge Key) is a key-type item introduced in Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light. It can be used once by any unit to unlock and release drawbridges, in order to allow units to cross the bridge; without using a Bridge Key, only Thieves can otherwise unlock drawbridges, either through use of a Lockpick or an innate class ability, depending on the game.

Drawbridge Key. The item name has been spelled four slightly different ways throughout the series; all four are pronounced the same way and have the same meaning. • The first, combined hiragana and katakana spelling is used in Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light. • The second, purely hiragana spelling is used in Mystery of the Emblem and Thracia 776. • The third, combined hiragana and kanji spelling is used in its unused state in The Binding Blade. • The fourth spelling, with a combination of hiragana, katakana, and kanji, is used in the Nintendo DS remakes.
