Death (Japanese: デス Death) is a black magic spell appearing exclusively in Fire Emblem Gaiden and its remake, Echoes: Shadows of Valentia. Death is a powerful mid-range spell without special effects; in Gaiden and vanilla Shadows of Valentia, Death is wielded exclusively by enemy units, with a DLC package required in order for the player to legitimately wield Death for themselves. Contrary to the spell's name, it is possible to survive a hit of Death.
Its incarnation as a blue tome weapon skill in Heroes is a personal weapon of the corrupted variation of Delthea; in addition to a constant boost to its user's Defense, it further boosts all of its user's stats during combat but deals recoil damage to its user afterward. Unlike other blue tomes which deal damage from a range of two squares, Death deals damage from a range of one square, making it the first tome skill of any color in Heroes to deal damage in such a fashion.
