The Oni Chieftain (Japanese: 修羅 Syura) is an advanced infantry class exclusive to Fire Emblem Fates. It is a Hoshido-aligned class which is one of two class change options for the Oni Savage. The Oni Chieftain adds scrolls to an arsenal that already included clubs, and has fearsome physical and magical defenses in addition to its high strength and respectable magic. As with their previous form, Oni Chieftains have mediocre skill, which makes it somewhat difficult to land attacks.

Shura Popularly known by this name prior to the English release of Fates.
Japanese 修羅 Officially romanized as Syura. Abbreviation of 阿修羅 ashura, the Japanese name for the Asura, the lowest rank of demigod in Buddhist cosmology. Asura are ogre-like entities which represent human passions and vices in their most dangerous form and are characterized as obsessed with their ego and desires to the point of violence. The Buddhist Asura were loosely derived from the Hindu deities of the same name, which were evil spirits. Asura are depicted as having three heads, which is partially reflected in the giant face on this class's chest plate.
