Vestaria Saga I: War of the Scions (Japanese: ヴェスタリアサーガI 亡国の騎士と星の巫女 Vestaria Saga I: Knight of the Ruined Country and the Star Priestess) is a strategy role-playing game developed by Fire Emblem series creator Shouzou Kaga that was released on September 5, 2016. Vestaria Saga serves as a spiritual successor to the TearRing Saga series that had been created by Kaga after he left Intelligent Systems. Vestaria Saga was developed using the software SRPG Studio.

Two "gaiden" installments have been released, namely Vestaria Saga II: The Sacred Sword of Silvanister and Vestaria Saga Gaiden: Lucca Gaiden, which released on March 27, 2019. Additionally, a third one has been announced, Vestaria Saga Gaiden: Chronicles of the Norden Civil War, which is described as being a "regional conquest-type SLG" instead of being an SRPG.

Development

On February 2015, Shouzou Kaga blogged about an unfinished 2010 game he developed titled Vestaria Chonicle 687–693. Though Vestaria Chonicle's original incarnation was long cancelled, Kaga announced the project's revival in May 2015 under the title Vestaria Saga: The Seven Sacred Rings (Japanese: ヴェスタリアサーガ:七つの聖環). Over the course of the game's development, Kaga released numerous updates regarding Vestaria Saga's progress on his blog. Early builds utilized unused character portraits from TearRing Saga: Yutona Heroes War Chronicles for Vestaria Saga's cast. These were replaced with original portraits from Mayumi Hirota later in development.

Reception

As of May 4, 2021, 88% of the reviews on Steam are positive, and the game has a 3.6/5 star rating on GOG.
