Jamke ({{ | Jamke (Japanese: ジャムカ Jamka) was a prince of Verdane, and the youngest of the three sons of King Batu. He alone remained suspicious of the influence of Sandima of the Loptr Church upon his father and brothers, and vocally opposed Batu's new-found aggression toward Grannvale. When his complaints fell on deaf ears, he was convinced by Edain of Yngvi to fight back against Sandima with Sigurd's army. | ||

When [[ | When Edain was captured by Munnir and locked in Castle Marpha, Jamke broke into it and released her and Dew from imprisonment, instructing them to return to Sigurd while he tried to convince his father to stand down. His attempts at negotiating with Batu and Sandima failed, and so after Marpha's fall to Sigurd he was forced to deploy to fight Sigurd's army. Edain convinced him to fight back against Sandima to save his father, which failed as Batu died just after Sandima's defeat. Afterward, Jamke continued to serve in Sigurd's army until his presumed demise in the Battle of Belhalla. | ||

===Analysis=== | |||
analysis | |||
====As a unit==== | |||
Jamke is a Bow Fighter with excellent combat stats for an early joining unit. His strength, skill, speed, and even defense are high, and he joins with the Killer Bow, making his offensive power incredible. As soon as he joins, Jamke can one-round enemies in the Spirit Forest. He can fight the enemy archers there on enemy phase and one-round them all, contributing to a fast clear of that map segment. His offense is further augmented by his skills—he has Accost, Adept, and Follow-Up, allowing him to double slower enemies and initiate multiple attacks each combat, depending on skill activations. | |||
However, in the long-term, Jamke suffers from not having a mount, making him fall behind the frontline. In Genealogy, mounted units dominate the game thanks to high movement, Canto, and movement-enhancing road tiles. Jamke can increase his movement by equipping the Leg Ring, but several other units use this desirable item much better. Other than that, he cannot catch up, limiting his usefulness in future maps. | |||
Jamke's other flaw is the lack of access to 1-range, preventing him from countering 1-range enemies. Jamke's promotion, while good statistically, does not increase his movement, neither does it give him a way to fight at 1-range. Between that and his lack of a mount, even if Jamke can reach the frontlines, he cannot fight very well. He lacks the flexibility of mounted units, and the enemy phase combat potential of mages. | |||
The easiest way for Jamke to gain experience is to fight in the arena, and to his credit, he excels at it. Between his array of skills and the Killer Bow, he usually clears the gauntlet with ease in every chapter. His A-rank in bows allows him to equip any bow except for the Yewfelle. Thanks to that, the player can give him the Brave Bow or the Silver Bow. In fact, trading away Jamke's Killer Bow to Midir is recommended, because it has excellent stats and Midir needs to make up for his statistical deficiencies. Midir can also make use of strong bows more easily, because he can reach the frontlines and fight there, unlike Jamke. | |||
====As a father==== | |||
As a father, Jamke is inferior to Midir in most aspects. He passes down Adept instead of Follow-Up, since the latter is his class skill and not a personal skill. He does not pass down any Holy Blood, either, and both he and Midir allow their children to inherit bows and Accost. However, despite being inferior to Midir, Jamke is still a decent father because he passes down two offensive skills. He is a decent fit for Ayra, because he gives Larcei and Scathach Adept and Accost, further augmenting their offensive power. He is also acceptable for Brigid, for the same reasons—he gives Febail and Patty Adept and Accost as well. | |||

==Personality== | |||
refs | |||
In stark contrast to his brutal elder brothers, Jamke is significantly kinder and less inclined toward senseless violence, very much in support of his father's pre-Sandima policies of peace and cessation of war-mongering against Grannvale. He was not fooled by Sandima's corrupting influence on his family and sought to expose him for the treasonous manipulator he was, and while he tried his best to convince his father to cease the conflict and not listen to Sandima, he nonetheless was resigned to fighting back against Sandima when this failed. He remained protective of his father even in light of his mistakes, and allied with Sigurd on the sole condition that his father was not attacked or treated as an enemy by Sigurd's army.<ref>{{Cite|However, nobody touches my father. “ | ...Now I think about it, there's been something amiss about everything ever since that wizard Sandima came here. My whole family is at his beck and call, and they just won't hear a word against him. | ” | — Jamke |
---|
Jamke (Japanese: ジャムカ Jamka) was a prince of Verdane, and the youngest of the three sons of King Batu.
Biography
When Edain was captured by Munnir and locked in Castle Marpha, Jamke broke into it and released her and Dew from imprisonment, instructing them to return to Sigurd while he tried to convince his father to stand down.
Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War
Role
Jamke is first deployed as a sub-boss in Chapter 1, after both Marpha and Genoa have been seized. He can be recruited by Edain. He is available up until the end of Chapter 5.

Analysis
This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience. |
As a unit
As a father
Fire Emblem Awakening
Role
Jamke is playable as a SpotPass character, released in the Genealogy of the Holy War first-generation character set. Jamke is an enemy unit in five DLC episodes: Lost Bloodlines 1 and 3, and Rogues & Redeemers 1, 2, and 3; he is also an NPC in Lost Bloodlines 2.

Personality
In stark contrast to his brutal elder brothers, Jamke is significantly kinder and less inclined toward senseless violence, very much in support of his father's pre-Sandima policies of peace and cessation of war-mongering against Grannvale. He was not fooled by Sandima's corrupting influence on his family and sought to expose him for the treasonous manipulator he was, and while he tried his best to convince his father to cease the conflict and not listen to Sandima, he nonetheless was resigned to fighting back against Sandima when this failed.[1] He remained protective of his father even in light of his mistakes, and allied with Sigurd on the sole condition that his father was not attacked or treated as an enemy by Sigurd's army.[2]

Trivia
- There is some inconsistency about Jamke's relation to the Verdane family. While Genealogy of the Holy War itself repeatedly states that Jamke is Batu's son and the brother of Cimbaeth and Munnir, the Fire Emblem: Treasure artbook's family tree claims that Jamke is actually Batu's grandson through unidentified parents, and the nephew of Cimbaeth and Munnir. [3]
- At an earlier stage in the development of Genealogy, Jamke was an Axe Fighter possessing fewer skills than in the final version. His change to being a Bow Fighter with more skills was prompted by director Shouzou Kaga taking a liking to Jamke as a character and improving him in terms of gameplay as a result.[4]
