Assassins are one of several classes that can be found in the Fire Emblem series. They first appear in Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade and later appear in Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones, Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, and Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn.

Assassins generally have low defense and resistance. In Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade, assassins are the promotion of thieves. In Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones, either thieves or myrmidons can promote into assassins. In Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance and Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, only one character, Volke, is a thief. Theives cannot regularly promote in the former, but in the latter, it is not in the thieves promotional chain.
