Chief Thief (Japanese: とうもく Chief) is a promoted class that re-occurs starting in TearRing Saga: Yutona Heroes War Chronicles. As its name suggests, it is a class exclusively used by leaders of criminal gangs like bandits and pirates. Members of the class tend to have thievery related skills like Robbery and Lockpick.

In TearRing Saga: Yutona Heroes War Chronicles, Chief Thief is a sword using class and like most bandit classes, it has relatively high strength and HP, but low stats otherwise.

In TearRing Saga Series: Berwick Saga, there is a variant of Chief Thief known as Scoundrel, Scoundrels have a different palette and are worth more experience. Like Chief Thiefs, all Scoundrels are named characters.

In Vestaria Saga I: War of the Scions, Chief Thief returns as a class and has gained the ability to uses axes in addition to swords.

In Vestaria Saga II: The Sacred Sword of Silvanister, there is a personal variant of the class known as the Napper, which is identical outside of the inability to wield swords.
