Foreseer (Japanese: 未来を知る者 Knower of the future) is the sixth chapter in FE13. In this chapter, the Shepherds must protect Emmeryn from an assassination attempt led by Validar. Several important plot points come into play in this chapter.

Line 18: Line 17:
Late at night, Robin finds Chrom standing around the castle. Chrom recounts how his father waged a long and bloody war with Plegia 15 years ago that only ended with his death; Emmeryn has been working tirelessly to reform Ylisse ever since, but men like Gangrel would take advantage of her kindness and must be put to death. "Marth" appears and claims that he has foreknowledge of the future and that Emmeryn is destined to be assassinated that night. He proves his claims by protecting Chrom from an assassin, but is blindsided by a second assassin; "his" mask is cut in two, revealing long hair and the face of a woman. The three hear an explosion from the direction of the palace, and set out to repel the intruders.

Validar orders the assassins to retrieve the Fire Emblem and kill Emmeryn. One of the thieves, Gaius, overhears the conversation, and struggles to accept killing her. Chrom yells out to Emmeryn, who asks him to flee, but he refuses and tells her to stay in the room where she is protected. Validar notices that Chrom is unharmed and that some of the people present "do not belong on this stage"; he then notices Robin and remarks on his good fortune. Marth's Falchion begins to gleam, though she does not explain why. As the battle begins, Emmeryn pleads with Chrom to flee, that she does not want anyone defending her to die doing so.
Over the course of the ensuing battle, the Shepherds are joined by two new allies – Panne, last survivor of a rabbit-like race of shifters called the taguel, and Gaius, a thief with an insatiable sweet tooth. The Shepherds ultimately drive off the assassins and strike down their leader Validar.

During the battle, a taguel named Panne enters the area, soliloquizing that she slipped in with the rogues and that she intends to repay her warren's debt and then wash her hands of humans. Marth states that Panne is not their enemy, and Chrom orders the Shepherds to let Panne be. Later in battle, Gaius convinces Chrom he's not there to hurt anyone, and he'll prove his good intentions by joining with Chrom and disclosing any information he has on Emmeryn's assailants, at first in exchange for gold, then for a bag of candy Chrom drops during their interaction.

Once the battle ends, Emmeryn thanks Chrom for protecting her; Phila begs Chrom for his forgiveness for failing to prevent the assassins from entering the castle. Chrom reassures Phila that it was Marth alone who could have known of these assassins, though when asked about Marth, Chrom realizes she has disappeared. Chrom intercepts Marth as she exits the castle and, thankful for all she has done, asks Marth if there's anything he can do for her. Marth declines and states that a bad future has been averted: one where the assassins succeeded and the Fire Emblem was stolen, leading to a great war and the end of mankind. Chrom, trusting Marth, hopes to someday repay her favors regardless.

Inside the castle, Emmeryn thanks Panne for her part in fighting the assassins, though Panne is apprehensive toward humans. Panne reveals that she is the last of the taguel, that she only helped to fulfill a debt her warren owes Ylisse, and that humans hunted her kind to near-extinction. Emmeryn apologizes to Panne, who finds Emmeryn's words sincere and is willing to give Emmeryn the chance to earn her trust. Elsewhere, Validar, dying and lamenting his defeat, is confronted by a shadowy figure claiming to be the power that compels him, and that Validar will not die; the figure identifies himself as "the fell dragon Grima". Inside the castle, Chrom accuses Plegia of the attacks and requests Emmeryn leave to Ferox for her safety. Emmeryn refuses on the grounds that doing so would leave the people undefended and without a leader, but accepts Frederick's suggestion of leaving for the hidden eastern palace. Chrom offers to escort her there before leaving for Ferox.
Once the battle ends, Chrom intercepts "Marth" as she exits the castle; she admits that in the future they averted, Emmeryn would have died, the Fire Emblem would have been stolen, and a war would have triggered that would have led to the annihilation of humanity. Elsewhere, Validar wakes in a void, and is approached by a shadowy being that shares Robin's voice and identifies itself as Grima. Back inside the castle, Frederick and Chrom convince Emmeryn to relocate to Ylisse's eastern palace for her own safety.

This is the only chapter in the base game with a fail condition other than Chrom or Robin dying – in this case, Emmeryn. If the Thieves unlock the door, she's almost certainly dead. Deploy Robin and Chrom to the left side of the starting area and Frederick to the right. Robin will need to hold the enemies back – prioritize anyone with Counter. The Thieves will prioritize attacking over unlocking the door, so that gives you a little breathing room. Frederick will pull the odd enemy off her to give her some help. Make sure to have Chrom recruit Gaius and Gaius loot the chest. "Marth" is useful for drawing some fire, but will almost certainly be incapacitated. Don't worry – there's no reward for pulling her through.

At the end of this chapter on Lunatic+, you will have a minimum of 330 Renown (even if you skipped the paralogues). This means you can claim the Energy Drop.

What if... What if I told you I have seen the future? Would you believe me? A future where Emmeryn is killed. Here. Tonight.
— "Marth"

Foreseer (Japanese: 未来を知る者 Knower of the future) is the sixth chapter in Fire Emblem Awakening. In this chapter, the Shepherds must protect Emmeryn from an assassination attempt led by Validar. Several important plot points come into play in this chapter.

Plot

Main article: Foreseer/Script

Summary

Marth warns Chrom that Exalt Emmeryn will be assassinated. The plot is thwarted, but Marth is revealed to be a woman—and one with knowledge of the future.

Strategy

This section details unofficial strategies that may help with completion of the chapter. This may not work for everybody.

Trivia

 • This chapter is the only one in the vanilla Awakening game, and one of two overall when factoring in DLC (the other being The Future Past 3), where the chapter is failed if someone specific other than Chrom or Robin dies.
