Pre-release information
Fire Emblem 3DS was announced only briefly on September 13, 2011 at Nintendo's 3DS Conference in Japan, and two videos were released on the official website. It was noted by IGN staff that its graphics look better than Radiant Dawn for the Wii.[4] In addition, one new feature of the game will be two-on-one battles.[5] The game will feature the return of a world map for traveling between the different towns and purchasing items, something that has not appeared since The Sacred Stones.
This game will be the first game in Nintendo history to use paid downloadable content, allowing the purchase of additional content through credit cards or prepaid cards, each for several hundred yen.[6]
A third trailer was released during the December 27 Nintendo Direct press conference. Although the segment was less than two long (running from roughly 34:25 to 36:08), many new pieces of information were acquired. New characters were revealed, along with the fact that every character appears to be voiced, a first for the series. Several former games are mentioned in the video, such as Seima no Kouseki and Seisen no Keifu, showing the game's drawing inspiration from multiple former sources. The return of skills was confirmed, as well as a release date of April 19, 2012.[3]
