Shaman (シャーマン, Shaaman) is a class that specialises in either Light or Dark magic. The Shaman class first appeared in Template:FESK, as a female-exclusive class that wields Light magic and Staves and promotes to a Sage. It was carried on in the form of the Sister class in Template:T776, but could also use Fire, Thunder and Wind magic. In the GBA games, Shamans could be male or female and wielded Dark magic exclusively, promoting to Druids. Micaiah's final promotion in Template:FERD, Light Priestess, was originally called Shaman in the Japanese version.
Although they can attack from one or two spaces away in most games, they have low resistance like other magic classes and should generally not be in the front line, where they are vulnerable to enemy attacks.
Shamans are basic units and can be promoted. In Template:FESK, they promote to Sages. In the GBA games, Fuuin no Tsurugi, Rekka no Ken, and The Sacred Stones, they promoted to Druids. In The Sacred Stones, they also can promote to Summoners.
