===Analysis=== | |||
analysis | |||
Fae is the only playable Manakete unit in Roy's team. All of her base stats are extremely low, meaning she would most certainly die if left exposed during enemy phase. She has a poor movement range of 5 spaces, which will often cause her to fall behind or incapable of escaping enemies with high movement range, such as Wyvern Riders/Wyvern Lords. On the plus side, she has very high stat growth rates except for defense. Due to starting at level 1, she will have plenty of room to improve her stats. Because of her low constitution, she can be rescued by every unit in the game except Merlinus. | |||
Fae's only weapon of choice is the unique Divinestone, which can deal great damage to the enemy Manaketes encountered throughout the game. It additionally grants huge increases to her strength, skill, defense, and resistance; this mitigates her low base stats and allows her to remain durable against non-manakete units. Unfortunately, the Divinestone comes with some severe costs to compensate for its extreme power: the Divinestone is a one-of-a-kind weapon with only 30 uses before breaking; there is no way to obtain another one and Fae cannot use anything else in its place. Unlike other weapons in the game, it cannot be repaired with the Hammerne staff. Should her Divinestone break at any time during the main story, she effectively becomes a useless unit for the remainder of the game, which would carry over to the Trial Maps. Without the Divinestone, Fae will lose the bonuses to patch her low base stats and will certainly get annihilated by the enemy forces. As such, it is recommended to keep her from being exposed too much in enemy phase, in order to prevent the enemy units from rapidly wearing down the durability of the Divinestone, especially since she is force-deployed in Chapter 24 and the Final Chapter. The Divinestone doesn't attack enemies in 2-range, so she can take hits at long range without exhausting her weapon's uses. | |||
Thanks to her incredibly high resistance, Fae is ideal bait for dangerous long-range magic and status staff wielders. If she is placed in the bottom deployment slot, enemies are more likely to target her with status, despite a very low chance of hitting. | |||
The issue regarding the limited uses of the Divinestone can be circumvented by utilizing a glitch to obtain a Firestone from an enemy Manakete. While the Firestone is slightly inferior to the Divinestone in regards to the stat bonuses that it provides (e.g. the Firestone providing a much smaller +5 increase to resistance while the Divinestone provides +20) and lacks the effective bonus damage against manaketes, it can be used an unlimited number of times, alleviating the issues of Fae relying only on the Divinestone in combat. However, as the game does not expect for Fae to wield the Firestone in any capacity, her sprites would glitch, which may or may not cause the game to crash. Because of this, it is entirely up to the player's discretion whether or not going through the trouble of obtaining the Firestone is worth it in the long run. | |||

“ | My name's not Misfae either! It's Fae! | ” | — Fae, to Elffin |
---|
Fae (Japanese: ファ Fa) is a manakete residing in Arcadia, and one of the last surviving pure-blooded dragons in Elibe.
Biography
Fae is the only pure dragon to still be living in Arcadia as of the modern Elibe era, although half-bloods such as Sophia do reside there as well. As with all Arcadian citizens, she was restricted for most of her life from visiting or having any contact with the world outside Nabata,[1] although in her case the ban was particularly emphatic owing to her dragon nature.[2]
In the year 980, during Eliwood, Hector, and Lyn's expedition into the Nabata desert in search of "the living legend", Fae was looking after a small house near the desert border. She passed on to Eliwood's group news that treasure could be found in the desert by sifting near the bones, having also told Pent this earlier.[3]
During the Disturbance of Bern, when Bern's attempted to invade Arcadia, Fae went into hiding with Igrene until Roy cleared away the invasion, whereupon she emerged and met Roy. When Roy's army left Arcadia to continue the war in Etruria, Fae wished to go with them but was forbidden from doing so by the elder. Nonetheless, she snuck out on her own and was captured by an Etrurian Revolutionaries detachment led by Bern, at a castle on the Etrurian border. She was rescued when Roy learned of her escape and led an assault on the castle. Roy chose to let Fae remain with his army, instead of possibly risking her being caught again on her way back to Arcadia, and she fought in the war.
In the late stages of the war, she learned of Idunn's history and feared that she herself would become an enemy to humans as well, but with Roy's encouragement she fought Idunn with the hope of helping her. After the war, when Idunn was taken back to Arcadia in an attempt to restore her soul, Fae played with her daily to try and get her acting normally or showing some sign of emotion again.
Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade
Role
If she is still alive at the time, Fae is a mandatory unit in Chapter 24 and the Final Chapter. Her survival at the end of the game is one of the criteria to obtain the game's best ending, along with having Roy use the Binding Blade to defeat Idunn.
Starting stats and growth rates

Analysis
This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience. |

Personality
Despite being several hundred years old already, Fae is in practice little more than a young child. Having spent most of her life locked indoors in Arcadia, she loves playing in and exploring the outside world and takes an interest in almost everything she sees; she has a particular interest in things she finds pretty, such as Elffin's hair[4] and butterflies.[5] She has trouble listening to orders given to her, finding them to be "no fun" no matter how important they are.[6] When stories are read to her, as Niime did, she tends to fall asleep once they're finished.[7]
Fae has trouble understanding certain ideas, such as her destiny to live for near-eternity;[8] however, she fully understands the concept of death and is distraught at Sophia's suggestion that she would one day die while Fae continues to live. For this reason, many of the people who interact with her deliberately avoid explaining the deaths of others to her, such as Igrene telling her about her deceased daughter, with whom Fae used to be friends.[9] Upon hearing Jahn's story of the Scouring at the Dragon Sanctuary, she was upset by the idea that she would one day be an enemy to humans.[10]

Trivia
- Fae's actual name is significantly longer, but she claims it is comprised of sounds humans cannot hear, with the "Fae" part of it being the only part audible to humans.[11]
- While Fae can normally only attack using a Divine Stone, it is possible to steal a Fire Dragonstone in Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade for Fae to use. However, having Fae use the Fire Dragonstone will glitch her battle animations. Conversely, it is possible for Fae to permanently lose her Divine Stone from an enemy thief despite thieves normally not being able to steal weapons in The Binding Blade.
- Because the Divinestone is treated as an item and not a weapon, Fae cannot be used in the Link Arena.

Fae: Were they pretty lights?
Niime: Oh my, yes. ...The humans used the lights to fight against the demons. After a long and difficult battle... the demons were finally defeated. But that wasn't the end...
Fae: Mmm...mmm...mmm... I'm sleepy now...

Fae: But the demon dragon is a divine dragon like me! You're going to fight the demon dragon, but what about me? What if...when I grow up... I'm like the demon dragon...? Then...you'd have to...
Roy: Don't worry, Fae. I know you'll never be like the demon dragon. You'll always live with humans. With people like me.
Fae: ...Do you really think so?
Roy: Of course! I want to help the demon dragon, too.
Fae: Help her?
Roy: The demon dragon isn't acting of her own free will. She had her soul destroyed. She is a slave. I...I don't want to kill her if I can avoid it...

Elffin: Interesting.
Fae: But maybe you could hear it, Elffin! You make so many pretty sounds, maybe you could hear my real name!
