Linking to pages

Hi. Thanks for working on some of our Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade articles. I just want to give you a few quick tips. When linking to pages, the pipe | is only needed if you want your link to read completely differently to the title of the page you're linking to. So, something like Lyn isn't necessary, and only increases the amount of text you're typing. Lyn works just fine: Lyn. If it's something that can be appended to the title, you also don't need to pipe it: e.g. Lyndis will produce Lyndis. It is needed, however, if you want the link to say something completely different: the swordswoman from Sacae = the swordswoman from Sacae.

Another thing is that it's considered more "correct" to italicise game titles. That is, you should type Fire Emblem: Thracia 776 instead of simply Fire Emblem: Thracia 776. We provide a range of templates for correctly formatting titles, such as FE7, which will give you Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade, or title, which is used as follows: The Binding Blade, to produce The Binding Blade (this one isn't needed for FE7; only use FE7 for that, as it lacks an official English subtitle).

Thanks again, and feel free to let me know if you have any concerns or questions. --Moydow (Support) 16:06, 2 July 2016 (UTC)

Thanks for the advice! I'm still learning how to edit, so I'll keep this in mind.
Quick question: How do users get permission to create pages? Anferensis (talk) 20:53, 2 July 2016 (UTC)
You can do so after you have been a member for at least 4 days, and made at least 10 edits. It's a policy intended to deter spambot accounts.
Another thing to remember, the correct way to sign on a talk page is to use four tildes, like this: ~~~~, which automatically attaches your name, and the time and date, to talk page edits. --Moydow (Support) 20:46, 2 July 2016 (UTC)

Copying content from the Fire Emblem Wikia

I have removed or otherwise changed some of the content you added to certain Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade pages (Erk, Serra, Nils, Vaida, A Grim Reunion, A Girl from the Plains). Blatantly copying content from other sites like this and submitting it as your own work is known as plagiarism, and is taken very seriously on this site. If you do this again in future, the content will be removed again, and it may result in your editing privileges being removed. Please only contribute content you have written yourself in future. --Moydow (Support) 16:40, 2 July 2016 (UTC)

I was unaware of this policy. I'll remember it next time. Anferensis (talk) 20:54, 2 July 2016 (UTC)

Use show preview

In case you weren't aware, the "Show preview" link under the editing box (next to "save page") allows you to see what your edit will look like without needing to save it first. Using this can reduce the work both you and I need to do – for you, you don't need to keep saving edits to the Sandbox before adding content to actual pages, but can instead edit the page directly and preview your changes as you work, and for me, I will have less edits to sort through. Thanks again. --Moydow (Support) 20:14, 3 July 2016 (UTC)
