There are four different variations of Takumi available to Heroes. The normal variation of Takumi is one of the characters available to be summoned by players from the game's initial launch. A New Year variation of Takumi was made available between the period of December 31, 2017 through January 15, 2018 as part of the summoning event surrounding the launch of the Happy New Year! update. A possessed variation of Takumi, based on his role as the boss of the final chapter of the Conquest campaign, was added to the game in the Blood and Snow update and made available to players in the seventeenth Grand Hero Battle, which initially ran from February 24, 2018 through March 8, 2018; this variation is the first special character variation to be made available via a Grand Hero Battle. A summer variation of Takumi was made available between the period of July 10, 2018 through August 10, 2018 as part of the summoning event surrounding the A Sketchy Summer update; this variation is based on Takumi's appearance in a picture that Hinata and Oboro look at after Takumi wins Beach Brawl. A Valentines-themed variation of Takumi was added in the A Special Gift update, and was first available to summon starting February 6, 2023.

From version 2.5 onward, Takumi: Wild Card is one of the player's initial units in FEH, joining at the beginning of the game's second preface map. When Anna and Kiran are attacked by Emblian soldiers, Kiran takes the Breidablik in hand and summons Takumi, who fights alongside Anna to ward off the Emblians. Once the Preface ends, this four-star Takumi can be used like any other non-unique Hero; the player may choose to raise him, merge him with another version of Takumi, send him home to earn Hero Feathers, or pass on his skills to another unit. Players who started playing the game prior to version 2.5 were given a four-star Takumi as a reward upon upgrading their game to version 2.5 as part of a package that allows those players to equalize their initial free units to four-star rarity similar to newer players. The four-star Takumi obtained via these methods are the only means of obtaining the base variation of Takumi at any rarity other than five-star.
