(Japanese: {{hover|マンフロイ|Manfuroi}} ''Manfroy'') was the Archbishop of the [[Loptyrians|Loptyrian Order]], the cult descended from the remnants of the [[Loptyr Empire]]. Manfroy was the chief architect of the cult's plot to resurrect their dark god, [[Loptyr (dragon)|Loptyr]], and under his direction the Loptyrians plunged the kingdom of [[Grannvale]] into war with the other nations and its transformation into the Grannvale Empire under Emperor [[Arvis]]. When the Loptyr-possessed Prince [[Julius]] wrested control of Grannvale from his father, Manfroy acted as an advisor and confidante to the prince.

At some point in his life, Manfroy had a daughter. This daughter married a man of whom Manfroy disapproved, and so Manfroy killed him. The child from this marrage - his granddaughter - was [[Sara]], who thoroughly despises Manfroy for killing her father; nonetheless, she lived most of her life with the Loptyrians until encountering [[Leif]].

Prior to Grann 757, Manfroy initiated his plan to resurrect Loptyr. Having learned of [[Arvis]]'s status as a descendant of [[Maera]], he blackmailed him into complying with his plans, although he never informed Arvis of much of its detail.<ref>{{Cite|'''Loptyrian priest:''' What of Duke Arvis, Your Excellency? Manfroy was also present at the [[Battle of Belhalla]], and in it personally killed Prince [[Lewyn]] of [[Silesse]].

The aftermath of the Battle of Belhalla left everything according to Manfroy's plan: almost the entirety of Jugdral was now under the control of Grannvale, itself under Arvis's rule, and Arvis and Deirdre gave birth to [[Julius]], a bearer of major Loptyr holy blood and the culmination of Manfroy's ambition. After giving [[Loptyr (tome)|the Book of Loptyr]] to Julius and instigating Loptyr's possession of him, Manfroy became something of an advisor to the prince and assisted with the facilitation of the business of running the Grannvale Empire, appointing Loptyrian priests as officials of the state, and aided its slow perversion into the darker activities of the ancient Loptyr Empire he sought to restore.

In Grann 776, Manfroy made two visits to the [[Manster District]] to confer with [[Veld]], a subordinate overseeing Loptyrian operations in the region. The first time he visited for a conference in the bowels of Manster Castle's dungeon, along with Julius and his fiancée [[Ishtar]], unknowingly during [[Leif]]'s escape from imprisonment there. In the second time, he visited the hidden Loptyrian temple in the region to scold Veld for his failures against [[Leif]]'s liberation army near his war's conclusion, entrusting him with five [[Deadlords]] he created himself in a final bid to defeat Leif.

Near the end of [[Seliph]]'s liberation war, Manfroy travelled to Peruluke Castle in [[Miletos]] and abducted [[Julia]], Julius's twin sister and the sole power capable of defeating Julius. Despite Julius's wishes to have her killed outright, Manfroy instead brainwashed her into fighting under his command during the final battle against Seliph in Grannvale, where Manfroy guarded [[Velthomer]] Castle. Manfroy was killed in this battle, freeing Julia from his control.

Manfroy is a boss in [[The Final Holy War|the Endgame]] of ''Genealogy of the Holy War'', acting as the guardian of [[Velthomer]] Castle. While his defeat is technically optional, doing so allows [[Julia]] to be re-recruited and thus drastically simplifies defeating [[Julius]] at [[Belhalla]].

Manfroy appears twice in cutscenes in ''Thracia 776'': once at the end of [[The Dungeon|Chapter 4]], in conference with [[Julius]], [[Ishtar]] and [[Veld]], and again in the opening cutscene of [[An Undying Oath|the Endgame]], reprimanding Veld for his failures and providing him with five [[Deadlords]].
