Within a new Outrealm, we catch up to Victor, who asks Vincent what his long face is about--he looks like someone who was bounced from the pub; Vincent reveals that the problem is with his pockets, which are lighter than a vicar's purse on tax day. Victor had taken a nap, and woke up to find his gold gone--he hasn't been this broke since their mother blew the rent on bangers and mash; Victor tells Vincent not to be such a mug, and says he knows how Vincent can replace his lost coin--they just go into the haunted mansion, kill all of the Risen inside, nick their gold, and "Bob's their uncle". Vincent asks Victor if he really thinks the Risen are carrying around cash, which appears to make no sense; Victor states nothing makes sense around here, and tells Vincent not to suss it out. Victor names a few examples as to how nothing makes sense--how they got there, how they got neat haircuts--and tells Vincent to just roll with it, to which Vincent agrees and sees the mansion as a gold mine--he'll be so loaded with gold that his knees will buckle; at this point, it is revealed that Chrom has been overhearing the conversation and asks if anybody's there. Victor, having heard Chrom, notes that there's a fly in the ointment, to which Vincent notes Chrom will foil their grand plan, and it's time for them to do a runner; Chrom again asks about what he just heard.
Within a new Outrealm, Vincent is dismayed to find all of his gold missing. Victor suggests replenishing his funds by fighting the Risen in the nearby mansion to loot the gold they carry, but the twins are spooked away by the arrival of Chrom and the Shepherds. Lissa and Frederick report that their personal gold savings have been stolen by Risen and insist that Chrom lead them into battle against the thieving monsters.

A short time later, Lissa approaches Chrom and tells him he won't believe what she's about to say; Chrom asks what's wrong, to which Lissa states that the Risen stole all of their gold! Chrom asks just how the Risen could steal the Shepherds' entire war chest, to which Lissa asks Chrom to hold on, that what she really meant to say was that the Risen stole her personal gold stash, and how her wording could sound confusing; Robin was guarding the war chest and that's safe, but the Risen made off with Lissa's life savings. Chrom surprisingly reacts to Lissa having a nest egg, to which Lissa states everyone puts a little money aside for personal stuff--she saves whatever she makes or finds in places such as the gutter, and it does add up; Chrom asks Lissa if she really picks up coins from the gutter, to which Lissa confirms and asks if that's not typical. Frederick jumps in on the conversation and agrees with Lissa, and also notes that many hours of his backbreaking labor have been wasted, to which Chrom asks Frederick if the Risen robbed him as well; Frederick states that the Risen pilfered his entire savings, and the Shepherds should strike back at once and teach the Risen a lesson about stealing his cash, later rephrasing his response to say that the Risen could go on to rob others, and they must strike for future generations' sake; Chrom notes that they certainly shouldn't strike out of greed or embarrassment, to which Frederick confirms and calls the Shepherds to battle, with Lissa repeating after Frederick. Preparations take place at this point; the battle begins once preparations are finished. A number of characters will, upon initiating a battle, also reveal themselves to be victims of the Risen gold thieves.
Afterward, Chrom is aghast at the amount of gold his troops had apparently been hoarding that could have contributed to the war effort, until he learns that their savings amount to mere pocket change, leaving everyone puzzled as to where the mounds of coin recovered from the Risen came from. Meanwhile, Vincent and Victor bemoan that the Risen had been the ones to steal from them all along, only for the Shepherds to dispatch them before they had the chance and take all their gold, but note that since the Risen are undead, they can always come back and try again.

Once the battle ends, Chrom will note the gold recovered from the Risen, in one big pile, surprised at the size of the pile; Chrom is surprised about Lissa and Frederick having had all that gold, especially since they're fighting a war--the army could use this money for better weapons, new armor, and more. Lissa arrives on the scene, and Chrom tells her they need to talk; Lissa says it's pretty great that the Shepherds got the gold back, and asks Chrom if she can collect her nest egg now, to which Chrom states Lissa can't even carry it all herself. Chrom begins to ask Lissa what she was thinking, to which Lissa reveals that her nest egg amounted to 3 gold, a figure that surprises Chrom; Lissa states that 3 gold was all that she was missing. Frederick states his own missing gold figure, amounting to 17 gold, another figure that surprises Chrom; Lissa expresses shock at how much Frederick had saved, to which Frederick reveals he tends to come across decent coin searching roads and hunting for firewood, to which Lissa states she thought Frederick was just collecting pebbles the whole time. Chrom jumps back into the conversation and says he doesn't wish to interrupt, to which Lissa says she's still waiting for her 3 gold and asks Chrom not to be stingy; Chrom tells Lissa she'll get her 3 gold, but also asks if nest eggs are usually a bit bigger, to which Lissa states that money doesn't just grow on trees. Chrom asks where the rest of the gold came from, to which Lissa shockingly reacts to the large pile of gold and can't believe all of that came from just that one wave of Risen--someone in the Shepherds must have been getting ready to open a bank; Frederick says that's not possible, even the pathetic pocket change of all of the Shepherds put together wouldn't amount to even half of this pile, to which Chrom asks just who the Risen took it from.

We cut back to Victor and Vincent, where Victor asks Vincent how things went, if he gutted the Risen and struck it rich; Vincent revealed it was a right beastly mess, as the Risen were the ones who stole Vincent's gold in the first place, but the Risen were chopped before he could recover his savings--Chrom sallied in and legged it with every last cent, to which Victor notes is insult to injury. Victor reveals that Vincent has another chance, as the Risen are undead, meaning the mansion is still stuffed to the gills with Risen, and if Vincent is of a mind to go back and try again, Victor says he could; Vincent says it's like what their mother used to say, if at first they don't succeed, retry the level and don't louse it up this time. Victor notes Vincent's spirit and asks him if he could treat him to a trim at the barbershop--then notices his own gold is gone; Vincent asks Victor if the Risen stole his gold as well, to which Victor confirms--they broke his bank and his heart. Vincent says there's only one thing for that, that it's time they stopped beating a dead horse and started beating a dead corpse.
