Having arrived in a new Outrealm, Chrom states he's fairly certain this is where the Shepherds should be, to which a blue-haired merchant appears on the scene; the merchant notices Chrom and states she has his reservation with her, then asks Chrom if all of the Shepherds have arrived or if he's still waiting on a few. Chrom asks the merchant if she could confirm that the Shepherds have arrived in the correct place, to which the merchant states that their location is the Bathrealm and it is indeed the correct location, telling Chrom not to be embarrassed. The merchant then tells Chrom she hopes her sisters did explain what the Shepherds are in for when they invited them to the Bathrealm, to which Chrom states the merchant's sisters thanked the Shepherds for protecting the Outrealms and gave them passes to the Bathrealm--apparently the Bathrealm has some sort of healing waters in which the Shepherds can soak; the merchant confirms that the Bathrealm does indeed have hot springs, each with its own special properties, then tells the Shepherds to make themselves right at home and she's honored to have them--if anyone has earned some rest and relaxation, it's celebrities like the Shepherds. Chrom dejectedly comments on the "celebrities" remark, to which the merchant states the Shepherds are huge in the Outrealms--everyone knows them, and the merchants even voted on which of them they like the most; Chrom states the Shepherds discovered that fact when they visited the beach resort and tells the merchant to thank her sister for making him prance around in those smallclothes, with the merchant stating it was a swimsuit and sees how that might have been a little intimidating. The merchant states that the Shepherds fortunately don't have to show as much skin in the Bathrealm--instead, they get to wear yukatas; Chrom asks what yukatas are, to which the merchant deduces Chrom's never heard of a yukata and asks him to look at the one she's got on--it's basically a loose robe that is fastened with a belt called an obi, totally modest and dignified, prompting a remark from Chrom. The merchant states that there's no better way to spend a day at the hot springs, and reveals that the swordmasters among the Shepherds have already slipped into their yukatas, guessing that a yukata isn't too far a cry from their normal attire; the merchant then states it's Chrom's turn, she's got a special yukata for him on the scene. Chrom notices the Ylissean Brand on his yukata, and asks why all his clothing has to have the Brand on it; the merchant appears puzzled, as her sister said Chrom looked good in Brand-related clothing, to which Chrom states the merchant's sisters say a lot of things. Lissa appears on the scene and calls out to Chrom; Chrom asks Lissa what's going on, while the merchant asks Lissa if she's looking for her yukata, prompting Chrom to ask if they make yukatas in sizes small enough to fit Lissa. Lissa asks Chrom if she looks like she's in a laughing mood, then reveals she just went to check out the hot springs and discovered them full of gross monsters; Chrom asks Lissa if she means Risen, while the merchant finds the situation familiar and notices that this is what happens when she set up shop in snow country--the hot springs are the warmest place for miles, so wildlife just won't stay away, to which Lissa states the Risen weren't fluffy enough to be called wildlife. Lissa asks Chrom if he's coming with her or not, the Shepherds can't relax in the water until they kill all of the Risen in it; Chrom tells Lissa she has a good point and states that the Risen might attack the other guests, then calls the Shephers to the hot springs--they have to take the Risen down. The merchant notices the Shepherds leaving the scene, and states the swordmasters didn't even have time to change back into their normal clothes; the merchant states there's no harm done, and she can maybe convince a few more of the Shepherds to try on yukatas, and reveals she even cooked up some special hair dye to complete the look she's going for. Battle preparations take place at this point.

Battle preparations take place at this point.

Once preparations are complete, Lucina notices the hot springs really do look like a giant bath, and states that her original future never held anything half as lovely as these hot springs; she notices the foilage floating on the water and notes it to be breathtaking, and states she looks forward to relaxing in the hot springs once the fighting is done. The merchant comes in on a loudspeaker calling the Shepherds to attention for a special announcement, then tests to see if anybody hears her; Lucina states that they can hear the merchant with every word sounding like a hammer strike. The merchant then asks if the volume is too loud before adjusting the volume, then reveals she's using a Megaphone tome to speak long distance, noting the Megaphone tome as an Anna original; the merchant states it gets steamy in the hot springs, so they needed a system to locate lost guests, and also asks the Shepherds that, when they reply, to speak into some magical stones lying around. Lucina notes the merchant as amazing, as she's thought of everything, then asks what the special announcement is; the merchant asks the Shepherds to remember how she mentioned how the merchants voted on which Shepherds they liked the best, and states that the results are in and she gets to award the top four a very special prize. Lucina asks why there are only four winners, to which the merchant states that all of the Shepherds are popular, but some are easier to latch onto than others; the merchant states that that day's vote is just for those visiting from the future, then asks the Shepherds if they want to know who won. For the men, the winners are Owain and Inigo, calling for a round of reaction; for the women, the winners are Lucina and Severa, cheering them on. The merchant asks which of those four are deployed that day; pointing at a spot near a shrine to the west, the merchant asks any of those four to wait at that winner's circle to claim their prize--the merchant promises to turn each of those four into basically a new person. Lucina asks what exactly "brand-new you" means, to which the merchant tells Lucina she'll just have to drop by and see; the merchant tells Lucina not to worry, she'll stay there as long as it takes. Once the merchant signs off, Lucina states that the situation sounds worrisome. The battle begins at this point, but before the player can make a move, the merchant asks Robin if the enemy swordmasters look way too comfortable in the hot springs--it's as if they haven't even noticed the Shepherds, and asks who knew the dead liked to soak; the merchant states that the Shepherds could perhaps pick them off with bows or magic before the enemy swordmasters snap out of it. The game states that the enemy swordmasters will not take action for the first seven turns, and will join the fray on turn 8 enemy phase.

The primary meat of this chapter stems in conversations between specific pairs of characters. Included in these pairings are same-gender characters from the second generation; the Avatar and a second-generation character; and pairings involving characters without wide support slates and don't participate in the core generation mechanics, including pairings of Emmeryn with both of her siblings. These conversations take place over two parts; the first part can be initiated from the first turn, while the second part can be initiated from the third turn. Also part of this chapter's mechanics involve Owain, Inigo, Lucina, and Severa each being able to wait at a specific spot near the western shrine, where a special scene involving that character will play out.

Once the battle ends, Chrom asks someone to tell him the Shepherds are done, to which the merchant does so and thanks him for driving the Risen away, then apologizes that the Shepherds' fabulous hot-spring vacation didn't go as planned; Chrom says it's all right, he feels relaxed just knowing the Shepherds helped keep the merchant safe. The merchant states it's sweet of Chrom, and states it's not too late to soak in the water for a bit; Chrom accepts and says he'll go get ready. After Chrom leaves the scene, the merchant asks if he's gone, then states her sisters are counting on her to turn a profit on this venture, she and her sisters didn't invent that Snapshot tome for nothing--all she has to do is get a few pictures of the Shepherds taking a dip in the spring, and if she can pull it off, the merchants are in business with an instant bestseller; the merchant states she can smell the piles of gold already and states she'd better go find a good angle.

The merchant arrives at one of the main baths, and states that they say a picture's worth a thousand words, yet these landscapes she just took look more like a thousand gold to her; she states that she now needs to snap a few pictures of the Shepherds without their fleece, then knocks on the door, asks if everyone's indecent, and states she's coming in. How the scene continues depends on if the player is using a male or female Avatar.

How the scene continues depends on Robin's gender.

If the player is using a male Avatar, the Avatar, unseen, states he's been dying for a nice hot bath; as he slips off his clothes, he notices the merchant, freaks out, and asks her what she's doing in the men's bath, then tells the merchant to get out. The merchant states the Avatar has impeccable timing, as she notes the famous tactician, the Avatar, ready for bathing action; the merchant tells the Avatar to pretend she's not there and go about his usual business, to which the Avatar asks how he's supposed to go about his usual business when the merchant's peeping, again asking the merchant to get out. The merchant states she can't go anywhere until she's recorded this moment for posterity, to which the Avatar asks if he's going to have to make the merchant leave; the merchant states the Avatar's not so buff when he's in the buff, to which the Avatar states he's about to show her how something's done. The Avatar then splashes the merchant, getting the water on the Snapshot tome, to which the merchant gets angry to the Avatar splashing her tome and calling him a creep; the merchant asks the Avatar if he wants to play dirty, then asks the Avatar if he's ready to get gouged, splashing the Avatar. The Avatar tells the merchant it's time to tip the scales, splashing the merchant again; the merchant states the Avatar's not bad, but states she's just getting started and tells the Avatar she's giving him a freebie. Before the merchant can splash the Avatar again, he tells the merchant he'll destroy her, calling her out on her peeping before passing out.
If Robin is male, he states he's been dying for a nice hot bath; as he slips off his clothes, he notices the merchant, freaks out, and asks her what she's doing in the men's bath, then tells the merchant to get out. The merchant states Robin has impeccable timing, as she notes the famous tactician, Robin, ready for bathing action; the merchant tells Robin to pretend she's not there and go about his usual business, to which Robin asks how he's supposed to go about his usual business when the merchant's peeping, again asking the merchant to get out. The merchant states she can't go anywhere until she's recorded the moment for posterity, to which Robin asks if he's going to have to make the merchant leave; the merchant states Robin isn't so buff when he's in the buff, to which he states he's about to show her how something's done. Robin then splashes the merchant, getting the water on the Snapshot tome, to which the merchant gets angry over Robin wetting her tome and calls him a creep; the merchant asks Robin if he wants to play dirty, then asks him if he's ready to get gouged, splashing Robin. Robin replies it's time to tip the scales, splashing the merchant again; the merchant states Robin isn't bad, but adds she's just getting started and tells Robin she's giving him a freebie. Before the merchant can splash Robin again, he tells the merchant he'll destroy her, calling her out on her peeping before passing out.

If the player is using a female Avatar, the Avatar, unseen, states she's been dying for a nice hot bath; as she slips off her clothes, she notices the merchant, asks if she's going to bath with her and the others, then notices the merchant is still dressed. The merchant states the Avatar has impeccable timing, as she notes the famous tactician, the Avatar, ready for bathing action; the merchant tells the Avatar to pretend she's not there and go about her usual business, to which the Avatar says she doesn't understand, asking the merchant what she's doing if it's not to bathe. The merchant states she's here to record this moment for posterity, then asks the Avatar to hold still, she doesn't want the important parts to get blurred, to which the Avatar asks if the merchant is spying on her and notes that action is low; the merchant states the Avatar's not so buff when she's in the buff, to which the Avatar states she's about to show her how something's done. The Avatar then splashes the merchant, getting the water on the Snapshot tome, to which the merchant gets angry to the Avatar splashing her tome and calling her a hag; the merchant asks the Avatar if she wants to play dirty, then asks the Avatar if she's ready to get gouged, splashing the Avatar. The Avatar tells the merchant it's time to tip the scales, splashing the merchant again; the merchant states the Avatar's not bad, but states she's just getting started and tells the Avatar she's giving her a freebie. Before the merchant can splash the Avatar again, she tells the merchant she'll destroy her, calling her out on her peeping before passing out.
If Robin is female, she states she's been dying for a nice hot bath; as she slips off her clothes, she notices the merchant, asks if she's going to bath with her and the others, then notices the merchant is still dressed. The merchant states Robin has impeccable timing, as she notes the famous tactician, Robin, ready for bathing action; the merchant tells Robin to pretend she's not there and go about her usual business, to which Robin says she doesn't understand, asking the merchant what she's doing if it's not to bathe. Robin then splashes the merchant, wetting the Snapshot tome, to which the merchant gets angry over Robin splashing her tome and calls her a hag; the merchant asks Robin if she wants to play dirty, then asks Robin if she's ready to get gouged, splashing her. Robin tells the merchant it's time to tip the scales, splashing the merchant again; the merchant states Robin's not bad, but states she's just getting started and tells her she's being given a freebie. Before the merchant can splash Robin again, she tells the merchant she'll destroy her, calling her out on her peeping before passing out.

As the two paths come together, once the Avatar comes to, Chrom will ask him/her if he/she really did pass out, to which the Avatar confirms, with Chrom stating that action wasn't tactically sound--especially if the others in the bath with him/her say he/she was playing with the merchant; the merchant appears on the scene and states that she and the Avatar weren't playing, they were fighting, to which the Avatar notices the merchant's back. The merchant mockingly states she's pleased to see the Avatar, that he/she should be ashamed for wrecking her precious Snapshot tome the way he/she did, stating that she's lost her nest egg; the merchant states that at least the Avatar had something nice to say to her at the end, to which Chrom asks what the Avatar told the merchant. The Avatar stated that he/she thanked the merchant for giving the Shepherds all a chance to relax and have fun--after all, it's not often they get to show their true colors; the merchant states that's not all the Avatar showed, to which the Avatar asks if the Shepherds could leave at that point. The merchant states that the Avatar's kind of cute when he/she blushes, then states that dinner is ready, asking the Shepherds all scurry over to the dining hall; the merchant states that a hearty meal after a nice, long soak in the springs really hits the spot, to which Chrom states he's starving and will see the merchant there, with the Avatar following suit. The merchant calls over the Avatar to tell him/her that if she gets him/her alone in the bath again, she will annihilate him/her, to which the Avatar tells the merchant she can try.
