A note on uploading images

When uploading images, be sure to select a license and to categorize the files (in the case of FE14 portraits, use [[Category:Fates portraits]]. PikaSamus (talk) 00:27, 3 September 2016 (UTC)

When uploading files, be sure to follow the naming standards. PikaSamus (talk) 18:18, 24 September 2016 (UTC)

Do you know you can add the category while uploading images, instead of adding it afterwards? Just add it to the file summary on the upload page. Should save you a little time while uploading stuff. --Moydow (Support) 01:37, 23 October 2016 (UTC)

Your image is not better

It only has higher resolution because it wasn't cropped, so there is unnecessary empty space on it. Also, just because something is from the text simulator instead of a game rip (which seems really silly tbh) doesn't mean that it's better, either. PikaSamus (talk) 12:15, 19 October 2016 (UTC)

It is a game rip, and that's where I got the sprite for Vallite Odin's portrait. Graphic that is cropped /=/ original graphic. --Breakin' Benny (talk) 12:58, 19 October 2016 (UTC)

It's current wiki standard to crop empty space out of portraits and artwork. Removing empty space does not damage image quality. L95 (talk) 14:24, 19 October 2016 (UTC)

...As long as you save the image in its original format, because compression can ruin it. --Breakin' Benny (talk) 14:52, 19 October 2016 (UTC)

Thanks for the Fates portraits

I'll use the link when I have the time, currently I'm grabbing screenshots from the SNES game for Pikasamus to transparent. Though I think you upload most of the Fates portraits, either way great job! Emperor Hardin (talk) 03:09, 23 October 2016 (UTC)

No problem, I kinda felt satisfied of doing that work. Next step would be getting the map sprites for the various classes, and I don't have the tools or utilities for it. Would be nice to see GIFs with game-accurate frames per second and the rest of the missing files. I'll take care of the Vallite fathers, too. --Breakin' Benny (talk) 10:24, 23 October 2016 (UTC)

Fates' stat screen

You can tap on the numbers to see what the numbers of the buffs and nerfs are. Not sure if you already knew this. PikaSamus (talk) 23:52, 29 November 2016 (UTC)

You can tell if a stat is being overall buffed by a blue number, or overall nerfed by a red number. Touching any stat shows thd base value as well as whatever buff and nerf effects are in play (example: An Archer should show both base and Skill +2's effect by touching the Skill stat if you have that skill and no other Skill-stat alterations in play). However, just because a number is at base color doesn't necessarily mean nothing's in play--if both buffs and nerfs are in play for the same stat in equal numbers, the stat will be in base color (witness Hinoka in Royal Royale while in her default state--the penalizing effect of Hinoka's Spear cancels out the Pair Up bonus Setsuna gives in Resistance, resulting in a white number)...--Shiningpikablu252 (talk) 02:32, 30 November 2016 (UTC)
I was fully aware of it, but it makes things even less clear. Another example is the lack of weapon weakness icons, and the "deep connection" feature on the simple UI is pretty vague especially since it replaces the GUI showing a unit's spouse and child(ren). --Breakin' Benny (talk) 09:05, 30 November 2016 (UTC)

"Naginata" or "naginatas"

"Naginata", "katana", and "shuriken" are Japanese loan words. Japanese doesn't have plural forms, so in English, it's technically correct to use either "naginata" or "naginatas" for the plural form. I would say you can just use whichever you feel most comfortable with, as long as the usage is consistent within each article. --Moydow (Support) 20:05, 1 December 2016 (UTC)

I am pretty sure that the game itself uses "katana", "naginata", and "shuriken" as both the plural and singular. PikaSamus (talk) 00:50, 2 December 2016 (UTC)

Enemy Map-sprites:

Hey, I have received your message about the enemy map-sprites and about mirroring the map-sprites from the game, with the enemy map-sprites facing left instead of right.

I am sorry for making the images facing left, since as the enemy map-sprites are facing left when they are ripped from the game. I am assuming because of saving time, they made the map-sprites face right from a code in the game, instead of the images themselves facing right. I will be editing the images right now to make them face the correct direction.

Also, to save you time from ripping the sprites, I do have a .zip folder of all the map-sprites - including DLC - if you wish to have it. It's worth noting though that there are all kind of unorganised, which is why I haven't uploaded every sprite. I am currently re-naming every file and placing in other folders, but I'm afraid it'll be a while until it's organised.

Do you wish to have the .zip folder of the map-sprites? ~ Henrai (talk) 10:15, 3 December 2016 (UTC)

I'd love to have 'em, though I don't have an application that allows mirroring sprites... and I can't make GIFs without this website. --Breakin' Benny (talk) 12:17, 3 December 2016 (UTC)
There's the .zip folder with the map-sprites. Also I recommend using this website to make the GIFs move. You might want to delete the folder when you've downloaded it. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Henrai (talkcontribs). Remember to always sign your talk page comments with ~~~~!

Aha, so they are sprite sheets... How does one go around to merging the right head sprites with the ones for classes? Also, some of the classes' sprites (like the Witch) use some frames of looping back to the first sprite). What about that? --Breakin' Benny (talk) 17:31, 4 December 2016 (UTC)

SpotPass parameter of the Reclass3DS template

You do not need to change it. The way it works is that if anything is put into the field, it will say all classes are available. PikaSamus (talk) 23:11, 21 December 2016 (UTC)

On pointless edits, for lack of a better term, which you've been doing

While I'm not an administrator and don't claim to be, a lot of your edits seem to serve absolutely no purpose, other than to inflate your edit count. They do nothing to the actual page presentation, and affect only the code; doing this is fine, but it would be preferable to also do actual additions or fixes to the page.

Additionally, you add categories to image after uploading them; it would be more efficient to add the category to the summary when uploading. This would save you some time. PikaSamus (talk) 19:31, 26 January 2017 (UTC)

I don't actually intend to increase my number of edits, I just like editing pages to make them more compact and efficient if possible. Also, the main reason I don't include the category in the uploads is because they appear in the image's description, which doesn't look too smooth in my opinion. --Breakin' Benny (talk) 20:47, 26 January 2017 (UTC)
Categories do not appear in the page, just at the bottom. What a page's code looks like doesn't matter; what a page actually looks like to readers does. PikaSamus (talk) 20:53, 26 January 2017 (UTC)
Building on to the above, this is regarding the quote template. It doesn't matter if the "quote" part of the template is capitalized or not. I noticed you doing this for some of the character articles and it's rather pointless to capitalize the "quote" part, IMO. ChaosGallade (talk) 15:50, 14 February 2017 (UTC)

Again, can you please do contructive edits to pages rather than removing stuff without doing anything? PikaSamus (talk) 20:35, 20 February 2017 (UTC)

Yes, I can do that. I've already gotten stuff like what stats Seliph can obtain, all of 'em are the average one if no modifiers are applied. I've even added information on the non-Heroes weapons in Heroes, I look for them like I am embarking on Undertale's Genocide route. --Breakin' Benny (talk) 20:49, 20 February 2017 (UTC)

Undoing your entire revision

I undid your entire revision because the only actual change to the page was changing player to Kiran; the rest did absolutely nothing affecting the page at all. PikaSamus (talk) 15:13, 10 March 2017 (UTC)

No reason

there was no reason because at the time the template had no reason parameter. PikaSamus (talk) 23:44, 1 April 2017 (UTC)

Then it's understandable... I do wish the edit summary tried stating why the page should be merged. --Breakin' Benny (talk) 23:46, 1 April 2017 (UTC)

Portrait flipping

No clue why you posted it on PA's page (that account has been inactive for a year now or so), but I was planning on getting around to flipping the Fates small portraits as well. So they all face left, then I can adjust the support template. All portraits need to be one or the other, (the wiki can do horizontal flipping, but the portraits need to be consistent) I don't get why the small portraits are right facing when all the full portraits are left facing in the first place. The majority of portraits on the wiki are left facing (aside from some FE5, though I suspect that's because they're from screenshots of a stat screen instead of being rips) L95 (talk) 10:47, 12 August 2018 (UTC)

Not to mention that, if it weren't for the fact that we've now got two copies of Chrom's right-to-left pose and no copies of Chrom's left-to-right pose, the Awakening support template would have already been adjusted (and the Fates support template can be similarly tweaked)...--Shiningpikablu252 (talk) 01:54, 13 August 2018 (UTC)
Alright, got the Fates portraits consistent. Fixed the Chrom thing (I think), apologies for misunderstanding the issue there. I'll upload the extra Chrom portrait needed for Fates stuff tomorrow (unless it already exists, though I didn't see it in the Fates portrait category, but I could have missed it) L95 (talk) 03:09, 13 August 2018 (UTC)
