Darros is the only playable member of the pirate class, making him a somewhat unique unit. The unique attribute of his class is the ability to walk over water terrain, which can allow him to gain avoid bonuses when attacking on that terrain and traverse certain maps faster than other units. Unfortunately, the traversal is something that can already be done by flying units, and the avoid bonus is a decent benefit but not a huge strength. Statistically, he joins with a speed of 7, which is decent in the early-game but his 10% growth make it very hard to have a decent speed stat long-term. His base strength of 6 and 50% growth are both fairly solid, and his weapon level is high enough to use every axe, including strong weapons like the devil axe and hammer. His base defense of 5 is not great, but his 40% growth is one of the best defense growths in the game and can bring his defense up to a decent level. Unfortunately, his skill is terrible, with a base of 2 and growth of 0%, meaning he will have terrible accuracy for the entire duration of the game. Additionally, his movement of 6 is fairly bad, and his ability to traverse more terrain doesn't really make up for it. Also, his lack of promotion hurts him since he fails to get a bump in his stats from promotion. His best attribute is his availability, as he joins in Chapter 2, meaning even though he is an overall mediocre unit, he can contribute for almost the entirety of the game and is worth deploying in the early chapters when you haven't recruited enough good units yet. However, in the long-term, Darros is a fairly mediocre unit.
