Oboro has a personal stunt with extremely simple triggering conditions:+3 damage if foe's current or base class is Nohrian. Any enemy with a Nohrian class and any playable character with a Nohrian base class is affected. In this case, Nohrian is defined as any class with the word "Nohr" in its help text. This means that she has an almost completely constant triggering+3 damage effect in Birthright, and can also have a basic triggering rate of half in Revelations. Her profession, Spear Fighter/Spear Master, is known for its average growth rate, and she is no exception, with all major attributes hovering around 50. However, she was born with her exceptional initial abilities, the Guard Naginata, which can be considered the most outrageous weapon of Fates, and the excellent skills of her profession, breaking through a world in Fates.
Oboro is a Spear Fighter that joins relatively early on in both Birthright and Revelation. Her personal skill, Nohr Enmity, boosts her damage by +3 whenever she fights an enemy class with the word "Nohr" in its help text. In Birthright, this is the vast majority of enemies, and accounts for roughly half of the enemies in Revelation, giving her an easy damage advantage over other units. This is in addition to her already good strength and speed base and growth rates makes it easy for her to secure one-round KOs with a good pair up and/or Speed Tonics. Her defenses are not particularly weak either, and her access to naginata helps to boost her bulk further. In particular, the Guard Naginata gives +5 to both defense and resistance, which can allow her to tank several hits in one turn, at the cost of dealing weaker damage. Additionally, Oboro's base weapon level of C in lances allows her to equip it with no investment. Lance access in general is a strong boon for her, as it allows her to use the Beast Killer to easily dispatch enemy mounted and beast units, of which there are plenty in both routes.

The first thing is the excellent basic data when she was recruited.that was added by the company. As we know, there's many fragile units in Birthright. Most players who have played Fates must have had the experience of having Corrin alone carry Dragonstone to support the entire army in the early stage of Birthright and Revelations. However, the initial 13 defense and 25HP in Chapter 9 can make Corrin breathe a sigh of relief. There is more than enough in the 13 attack ratio, and in Birthright , as long as you pass Chapter 10, you can still trigger her personal skills, 3 attacks forever, which is very excellent. When carrying a speed-backpacks during Birthright, you can chase most enemies at 12 speeds. Resistance is a bit regretful, but the blue weapon used by Oboro to counter the red book is an innate advantage, so hard resistance against 1-2 mages will not be particularly painful. In summary, after joining, Oboro can confront a group of knights head-on, and will not be particularly nervous when faced with mages by Spear. Compared to Silas and Hinoka, Oboro has the advantage of not eating any special effects weapons, and is much stronger than Rinkah as a tank.
Oboro's relatively high bulk makes her compare well to much of Birthrights cast, which can be rather frail, particularly in the early game. This also rings true for Revelations earlygame, where enemy attack is high and the player will likely be heavily reliant on Corrin and possibly their Dragonstone to handle most combat. Her access to lances and naginata is also a slight boon, as it has weapon triangle advantage against tomes, which can help her deal with enemy Dark Mages, Diviners, and other magical enemies more safely than most physically-oriented units.

Next is Guard Naginata. A weapon that is only available at level C provides users with 5 Defense and Resistance points. For example, a unit with 24 HP and 10 defense can only withstand three 18 attack units, but with 24 HP and 15 defense, it can withstand eight 18 attack units. Therefore, the dual defense+5 weapon of Guard Naginata is undoubtedly a super artifact. There are a total of three guard guns in Birthright (one for Hinoka, one for 2-star weapons in the weapon shop, and one for 3-star weapons), and one can be used when Hinoka was added in the early stages. In the early Birthright units, Silas and Subaki had to practice their guns to C before they could use them. Hinoka was afraid of arches. Oboro could become an unrestrained meat tank with his gun guard. When carrying red and blue weapon units, he basically dealt single digit damage, while green weapon units also had Swordcatcher to cushion them.
Oboro additionally comes with some useful utility skills in Swap and Seal Defense. The former is a valuable positioning skill which can be used in a variety of ways, from taking the place of a frailer ally in enemy range, to moving ahead of an ally to swap them further forward and give them more effective movement, as two examples. Seal Defense on the other hand can massively debuff a foe's defense by −6, which will make it significantly easier for allies to secure kills. This can be a bit overkill in Birthright, which generally has weaker enemies, but in higher difficulties of Revelation, this is more valuable as enemies are much bulkier. She can also trigger this more safely from a distance by using the Javelin or Spear.

Finally, there are outrageous skills in Spear Fighter and Spear Master. 6-point defense debuff (Seal Defense), 6-point speed debuff (Seal Speed), Oni Savage looked at it and wanted to cry. The usage of these two skills is also very simple: hold the Guard Naginata to resist a wave of stinging damage, and then the units behind it randomly collect a group of remaining health enemies.
As she is recruited at level 10, Oboro can be promoted immediately into either Spear Master or Basara, or even reclass after promotion into Merchant or Mechanist. Of these choices, Spear Master is likely the most ideal, as it further improves her already good strength and speed, and offers skills that can boost her offenses even further in Lancefaire and Seal Speed. Basara can alternatively be chosen to give her access to Rend Heaven as well as tomes and scrolls for a more consistent 1-2 range option, though her low base magic may make using them somewhat tricky. Merchant and Mechanist both offer potentially strong skills in Spendthrift and Replicate, though as both are learned at level 15, they can take quite a bit of investment to reach. Replicate in particular has great value in its ability to duplicate her strong offenses, but is also even trickier to obtain as Mechanist does not retain her lance level.

In summary, the Obscure belongs to a unit that doesn't seem outstanding anywhere, but actually feels great when used. The usage of her is relatively simple, holding Guard Naginata to pull people to defend against counterattacks, using Swordcatcher to attack green units, using Spear to attack mages, and using Beast Killer in Werewolf Mountain. It's just that simple and crude.
Overall, Oboro is a strong and consistent combat unit that can easily fit into most players' armies. Her good balance of high strength and speed, along with respectable defenses allow her to steadily secure kills while remaining healthy herself. She requires little investment to get going, but can still stand to benefit from it thanks to her solid overall growth rates.

In Revelations, Oboro joins with her Birthright stats, albeit 2 chapters later and with an Iron Naginata instead of Steel. However, she doesn't suffer as much from her static stats than other units. Oboro is still immediately able to contribute at base, with her good C-Lances enabling her to pick up the Killer Lance for a ~25% chance to instantly kill anything she hits. Furthermore, Seal Defense allows her to soften enemies with a Javelin so your other units can pick up the kill, something no prior unit had. While she will get doubled by Ninjas on her join chapter, she is still bulky enough to tank one or two, and is capable of fighting Spear Fighters and Samurai without too much trouble.

Long-term, Oboro's steady growths across the board will result in a unit that is both bulky and hard-hitting. While a promotion to Basara provides the fairly powerful Rend Heaven skill, Oboro's bad magic and E-tomes will render Basara's tome usage mostly moot, so the class is only really useful for its skills. On the other hand, Spear Master Oboro gains more useful Strength and Speed, helping her serve as a tanky 1-range unit without the poor offenses Armor Knights get hit by. Oboro also benefits from Revelations chapter layout - she can pick up Hinoka's Guard Naginata for added tankiness in Chapter 16. Then, in Chapter 18, she can take advantage of the 1-tile chokepoints throughout the map to fight 1-range enemies for experience. Chapter 20 gives her the Waterwheel, which gives Oboro additional durability with more Dodge and without the Avo penalty on the Guard Naginata, as well as a powerful attack every other round of combat. The narrow hallways and chokepoints in Chapters 21, 23, 24 and 25 all make Oboro's durability very valuable. The terrain opens up afterwards, but Oboro can still reliably bait entire squads of non-magical enemies safely, as well as do decently well against Anankos.
