Galzus (Japanese: ガルザス Galzus) is the prince of House Rivough in Isaach, a cousin of Prince Shannan of Isaach through his mother - the eldest child of King Mananan - and a full-blooded heir of the Crusader Od. During the Grannvale-Isaach war of Grann 757, Galzus fled Rivough with his daughter Mareeta when King Mananan attacked Rivough in retribution for the Rivough attack on Darna, and became a mercenary. He was separated from Mareeta and eventually entered the service of Duke Raydrik of Munster.

After losing Mareeta, Galzus worked as a mercenary, and eventually entered Raydrik's service in Munster. Under Raydrik's employment, Galzus worked as a guard at Munster Castle, and was tasked with pursuing Leif and the Magi as they fled imprisonment in the castle. ===Role===
Role
Galzus first appears as an enemy optionally in Chapter 5. He arrives as a reinforcement from the central arena gate if four of the arena enemies have already been killed at the beginning of the next enemy phase; it is possible to complete the chapter without triggering his arrival. He is also an enemy reinforcement in Chapter 6, arriving at the beginning of the 15th enemy phase. In both of these appearances, it is impractical to fight him as his stats vastly surpass those of all units playable at the time, and his presence is likely intended as more of a warning to hurry one's escape. Despite this, some players may want to bait him into capturing an unarmed unit and then capture him with a mounted unit (preferably Felgus) with a Brave Sword.
In Chapter 5, if Chapter 4x was played, Galzus appears as an enemy unit. He appears in the arena after four of the arena enemies have been killed. Once Eyvel has been turned to stone, he will move to escape. In Chapter 6, Galzus appears as an enemy unit on turn 15.

Galzus later re-appears as an enemy in Chapter 24, and in this chapter he can be recruited.
In Chapter 24, Galzus appears as an enemy unit. He is recruited when talked to by Mareeta.

Analysis
analysis
Galzus appears as an enemy in multiple chapters, but is only recruitable in chapter 24 by talking to Mareeta. Galzus has several capped stats, high 8 move, 5 movement stars , a solid Follow-up critical coefficient of 3, access to Luna and Astra, A ranks in both swords and axes, and even an above average magic stat for a phisical unit in Thracia 776. As such he will easely one round every enemy left in the game, besides some bosses, but he isn't a bad answer to them either. As such Galzus stands as one of the strongest fighters in the game, alongside units like Ced. His only real flaw is his low availability, but he contributes more in the last few chapters of the game than some of the units you get much earlyer.
Personality and character
Galzus attempts to hide his emotions by establishing himself as stoic and distant, but he still cares about the people important to him and his family.<ref>{{Cite|I had half a mind to just leave, but I had to spare you a few words. ===Analysis===
analysis
Galzus is the best combat unit in Thracia 776 next to Ced, with low availability as his only major drawback. He joins with capped strength, skill, and speed, as well as an A-rank in both swords and axes. Outside of that, Galzus has 7 movement, 3 FCM, Luna and Astra. This nearly guarantees Galzus will one-round anyone he faces, even if he is not using a strong weapon. Though he is good at dealing with most enemies, Galzus is not the most reliable unit against the final boss, Veld. Galzus cannot reliably one-round Veld due to his high 80 HP and 25 defense, and must instead rely on critical hits or skill activations; instead, Ced with Forseti is more reliable, as he is guaranteed a critical hit on his follow-up, and is only three points of magic away (suppliable with Magic Up or Pure Water) from a one-round.
Galzus also has impressive defenses. He has a massive 54 base HP, a solid 14 defense, and a decent 9 magic. Physical units tend to have a low magic stat, but Galzus's magic stat is salvageable. He may still be affected by status staves, which the player should be mindful of. However, using a Pure Water or Magic Up staff helps protect Galzus from their influence; if Galzus also equips a Flame Sword, he will have 21 magic on the first turn Magic Up or Pure Water is applied and 20 magic the turn after, giving him 2 turns of status staff immunity (discounting terrain-boosted casters due to magic floors) and exceptional magic beyond that.
Galzus also has a massive five action stars, giving him a 25% chance to move again when he completes a turn. The effect is unreliable, but Galzus has a better chance of activating it than most units. If he activates it, he can move fourteen spaces in a single turn, kill two enemies on player phase, and more. Since Galzus is so good at combat, there is no reason not to use him when he is available. While he cannot use staves, which is especially problematic as the final chapters of Thracia are especially staff-dominant, he is better than the vast majority of non-staffers.

Galzus is one of the characters added to the game in the Evil Ways update, and became available for summoning by players on March 18, 2022. Only one variation of Galzus is currently available in Heroes, based on his Thracia 776 incarnation.

|blurb1=Galzus is one of the greatest swordsmen to walk the continent of Jugdral. But there's more to him than that—he's also a member of Isaach's royal family, and he's a descendant of the crusader Od too!
|blurb2=Having lost his kingdom during the war, Galzus set out on a journey with his young daughter, Mareeta. But one day, he turned his attention away for just a moment, and Mareeta was kidnapped!
|blurb3=Galzus wandered far and wide in search of his daughter, taking on work as a mercenary to support himself. I hear that his swordsmanship was feared not only by his foes, but also by his employers as well!
|blurb4=Galzus may seem hard to approach, but he's a trustworthy man who's dedicated to his duty. I'm sure he'll achieve great things with the Order of Heroes!
