'''Renault''' (Japanese: {{hl|レナート|Renāto}} ''Renato''), is a [[bishop]] who appears in {{FE7}}. Appearing as the second to last recruitable character in ''Fire Emblem'', Renault is most well-known for his complex and mysterious backstory.

Renault's base stats are more reminiscent of a [[Hero]] or [[Swordmaster]] than they are of a [[Bishop]]. Renault has very high speed and skill, as well as good defense, resistance, and HP. With this combination, his durability blows other staff users out of the water, comparable to a base level [[Harken]]. However, Renault's magic stat is mediocre at best, and as a [[Bishop]], he only has access to light magic for offense, which has the lowest might of all magic types, making Renault's damage output even worse. While he will double many enemy types thanks to his high speed, his damage per attack will be negligible. Renault can level up his light magic rank to S-rank so he can use [[Aureola]], but since he joins so late, there is not much time.

This is Renault's main advantage as a unit - he is an investment-free A-rank staff user. Even if the player gives Fortify to someone else, Renault can still use other staves, like [[Physic]]. Even if the player deploys other potential staff users, Renault allows the player to use the other staff users for combat. His combat may be subpar, but he is durable enough to take a hit or two, even from Endgame enemies. Above all, he requires no resources - the player can give him a random high-rank staff and he will contribute.
