In Blazing Sword, Lord Darin allies himself with the Black Fang in an attempt to overthrow Ostia's rule and conquer Lycia. When Eliwood and Hector approach the castle in search of explanations, Darin orders his son, Erik, to launch a full attack on them, while he, on Ephidel's suggestion, leaves to invade Caelin. The people of Laus are not happy with their lord's decision, prompting one of the villages to even grant assylum to a young troubadour who is being pursued by Darin. Eventually, Erik is defeated and Darin is killed, but the Lycian League does not punish Erik and allows him to become Marquess Laus.
