You unlock battle preparations this chapter, and are made to field five units with Kris being force-deployed. Luke, Roderick, Caeda, and Merric are all strong investments, and Merric in particular can tear Draug apart by doubling him and hitting on his non-existent Resistance. Wrys can heal, making him a good choice as well. Bear in mind that you need to have 6 Speed by the end of this chapter in order to avoid being doubled by the Archers, Fighters, and Cavaliers in the next one.
If you say "Yes" to Katarina's question at the end of the chapter, you will proceed to Cain's version of Prologue 7. If you answer "No", you will proceed to Est's version.

At the start of the map, you are joined by Cecil, another Cavalier with relatively high Speed but awful bulk. Your weakest unit (typically Ryan, Gordin, or Wrys) should go in the absolute top right corner. Put two more units to his west and south, another unit on Cecil's starting position (this can be Cecil herself), Kris below Cecil, and one last unit in the bottom right corner. The effect should be that only the Soldiers can reach you and nobody other than Kris can take two hits, with the top right character being protected. Once the Soldiers come in, kill them on turn 2 while staying out of everyone else's range. The rest of the map is a walkover, as the remaining enemies only aggro one at a time. Pull and kill the Mage, then Draug, then the Archer. At the end of the chapter, you are joined by Draug. He's useless in the next two maps because every enemy except Knights, Mages, and the boss of Prologue 8 (if he's lucky) doubles him, with the axe-wielders one-rounding him and the aforementioned boss outright one-shotting him.

If you say "Yes" to Katarina's question at the end of the chapter, you will proceed to Cain's version of Prologue 7. If you answer "No", you will proceed to Est's version. Cain is a much better choice due to actually having the bulk to survive combat with the Barbarians in Prologue 8, while Est gets one-shotted and the terrain offers no benefit to fliers.
