Mages (魔導士, Madoushi, meaning sorcerer, wizard, mage, etc. in Japan) are a magic-using class and one of the most prevalent classes in the Fire Emblem series. It has appeared in every game except for Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn; even then, in that game it is divided into the Light Mage, Fire Mage, Wind Mage, and Thunder Mage classes. In each of the games they appear in, they use magic; depending on the game, they use different types of magic depending on the game's magic types.
Mages can attack from either one or two spaces away, but their typically low defense and HP leave them vulnerable if exposed to physical attackers. Therefore, they should usually attack from two spaces and be protected by a unit with better defense, such as a mercenary or fighter.
