Before you begin, you will be asked to choose genders for Shez and Byleth. Shez is probably better off as a male due to getting Essence of Darkness from the male-exclusive Dark Mage tree. Byleth's gender has a negligible impact. | |||
The battle itself is a very straightforward tutorial battle. Just follow the on-screen instructions and you won't have any trouble. When made to fight Byleth, you cannot damage them meaningfully and they will rend you asunder in a few hits, so focus on dodging and staying alive whenever they're on the battlefield. | |||
