Ike is a Ranger that has weak base stats but has excellent growths across most stats, so he will usually grow into a powerful unit. Training him may seem unnecessary due to lack of a mount and sword-lock (only 1-range), but it is often advised due to his necessity to fight Ashnard at the end of the game.
Ike is a Ranger that has mediocre base stats, but he has excellent growths across most stats, so he will usually grow into a powerful unit. His main weak point is his resistance, but he has a surprisingly high 40% resistance growth, which will compensate later on. Training him may seem unnecessary due to lack of a mount and sword-lock (only 1-range), but it is often advised due to his necessity to fight Ashnard at the end of the game.

His weak earlygame is somewhat remedied by his decent base speed and his Regal Sword (mitigated by only ×2 effectiveness bonus). Through midgame, his growths will often have begun to kick in, and forges / other effective weapons have become more readily available. However, he is also prone to stat screwage at this point due to his low bases. After promotion, Ike is a force to be reckoned with and will on average cap strength, speed, and skill at max level. Although Ragnell is only available for the last two chapters, it gives him a powerful 1-2 range option and a massive defensive boost, making him one of the most powerful endgame characters.
