Having left the Araphen orphanage some time ago, Raigh had travelled to the Western Isles, where he was masquerading as an Etrurian soldier at Jutes in order to observe Ein, a "human yet not human" of whom he had heard rumors. During an assault on Jutes led by Roy, Raigh was reunited with Lugh and Chad, who convinced him to ally with Roy.

Analysis
analysis

Base level performance
Raigh joins in Chapter&nbsp;12 as a level&nbsp;12 Shaman. As a level&nbsp;12 unit, he is eligible for early promotion. He is the first available dark magic user in the game, giving him a niche. Nosferatu is the most notable tome he can use, due to its ability to heal the caster after use, and unlike the later games, it has reasonably low weight. However, dark magic is inaccurate (comparably to axes), and if Nosferatu misses it also deprives the caster of its healing.

Raigh's main advantage is the fact he uses magic, and magic is the only form of reliable 1-2 range in The Binding Blade. This allows him to deal solid chip damage to enemies without taking a counter. However, due to dark magic's aforementioned low accuracy, he has issues hitting reliably.

Dark magic also does not have a killer equivalent, which is bad as killer weapons are the best weapons in the game, and around the time he joins killer weapons become buyable. Killer weapons not only have better hit rates than most weapons but also have a higher crit chance, increasing reliability – if a player unit crits, they likely kill an enemy. Without a crit, one-rounding one of Hard Mode's enemies is unlikely, and only a few units manage that. This is why killer weapons are so strong in The Binding Blade. Raigh's problem is that he cannot benefit from killer weapons since he uses magic. Without a crit, he cannot one-round any enemy, and both Flux and Nosferatu have 0 crit.

Furthermore, Raigh's base speed is insufficient to double most enemies, and even promoting him does not fix that. At base level, Flux weighs Raigh down by one point and Nosferatu by two points, further increasing the speed issue he faces. This makes Raigh's combat incredibly lackluster and making it good requires a large amount of effort. Raigh's magic is fairly high, especially after promotion, but not nearly high enough to make him one-shot enemies.

Promotion situation and long-term performance
Early promoting Raigh to Druid improves his stats all around, increases his dark magic weapon rank by one, and gives him access to E-rank staves. E-rank staves are nothing impressive, but they still allow Raigh to support his allies through the Heal staff. Raigh also gains a point of constitution and a point of movement, effectively increasing his speed by three points, which helps him double some enemies.

However, Raigh faces steep competition for this promotion. The Guiding Ring is among the most competitive promotion items in The Binding Blade. Lugh, Saul, Clarine, Ellen, Sophia and Lilina all have to use it to promote, and they all gain plenty from promoting. While the player is unlikely to be using all these units, they will likely use at least some, creating a conflict of interest. Raigh's promotion benefits cannot compare to that of staff users like Saul, for example. Gaining +50 staff experience is especially important for them since staff experience is very hard to accumulate. Raigh will never use high-rank staves unless the player grinds his staff rank post-promotion, which is suboptimal.

If Raigh receives some training and promotes, he can become an alright combat unit. Still, he is unlikely to ever double enemies unless the player gets lucky with growths and uses the Speedwing on him. Even if Raigh does double, he may be unable to one-round tougher enemies despite his high magic. His best combat will usually be a Nosferatu tome, and with enough Magic, he can somewhat reliably OHKO many low-resistance units on retaliation with it, and even if not, safely bait a large number of enemies – particularly the Chapter&nbsp;21 Wyvern Riders.

Summary
Overall, while Raigh is a decent combat unit, especially after promotion, he is not spectacular in any way. Much like many other combat units in The Binding Blade, he cannot one-round enemies and has severe doubling issues. He gains the ability to use staves after promotion, but E-rank staves are not very impressive. Furthermore, if the player is using a mount-dominated army, Raigh will fall behind unless rescue-dropped. These aspects make Raigh nothing more than a mediocre unit that can contribute but will never be anything beyond average.

Personality and character
Personality
Unlike his blithe and innocent twin brother, Lugh, Raigh seems to be very mordant, gloomy, and rude to others. He shows plenty of disrespect to people he meets, including elders, as seen in his support conversation with Niime, an elderly druid.<ref>{{Cite|Niime: Well? How's your studying going?<br>Raigh: ......<br>Niime: Hm... Don't even have time to talk, eh? As an experienced shaman, Raigh takes the dark arts very seriously, and plans on bringing it back to people's recognition across Elibe. Although Raigh is clearly snide and disrespectful, some people, including Chad, Sophia, and his brother Lugh, believe that despite his gloomy demeanor, he really is very kind and lighthearted on the inside. After him and Chad meet up with Roy, as their support conversations suggest, Raigh comments on how Chad, despite Roy praising their work and for everything they've done so far, kept on deeming himself and his skills as a thief as merely unimportant. Ray tells him that he  should be proud of his work as a thief, as he is doing something only he can do.<ref>{{Cite|Raigh: You're still stealing and stuff, huh.<br>Chad: ! However, Sophia later explains to him that the reason she gave Raigh the dark tome was because it was a gift to him, as she believes that Raigh is golden-hearted inside.<ref>{{Cite|Raigh: I'm giving this spell book back to you.<br>Sophia: ...
