'''Fierce Winds''' (Japanese: {{hl|猛き風|Takeki fū}} ''Fierce Winds'') is the eighth chapter of the ''Birthright'' campaign in {{FE14}}. In this chapter, [[Corrin]] and his/her army get into a skirmish along the [[Wind Tribe#Eternal Stairway|Eternal Stairway]] against [[Wind Tribe|Wind Tribalists]] disguised as [[Faceless]] by [[Iago]]; the tribe's [[Fuga|chieftain]] knows Corrin's army didn't intend to attack innocents, but has his forces challenge Corrin's army anyway in order to prove their worthiness.

We witness [[Corrin]], [[Azura]], [[Sakura]] and [[Kaze]] climbing the [[Wind Tribe#Eternal Stairway|Eternal Stairway]], with Corrin complaining about there appearing to be no end and Azura stating that they're about halfway up; Kaze alerts Corrin to a strange presence, after which some [[Faceless]] appear on the scene to Kaze's surprise. As Kaze starts attacking the Faceless, Corrin asks Azura to protect Sakura while they help Kaze with the Faceless, to which Azura agrees; Corrin and Kaze attack the Faceless, only to stop upon seeing the Faceless having apparently transformed into human bodies, after which Azura arrives on the scene and confirms the dead as denizens of the [[Wind Tribe]]. A strange presence makes himself known to the group, to which Corrin asks him to show himself; [[Iago]] appears on the scene and Corrin questions what he has done, but Iago states he didn't do anything and chews out Corrin for killing innocents and Corrin asks why he would do this. Iago states that anything is fair game since Corrin has [[In the White Light|sided with]] [[Hoshido]], while mocking Corrin's ignorance. After Iago disappears, the group discusses how their route takes them through Wind Tribe territory and they'll likely have a hard time explaining these events; during the discussion, Sakura asks Corrin if they know Iago, to which Corrin explains Iago to Sakura and deduces that he may have made them look like Faceless to the Wind Tribe villagers, after which Azura states Iago did them a favor by revealing himself as their enemy, as they must get through him to get to Garon.

Once preparations are complete, [[Hinoka]] asks her retainers, [[Azama]] and [[Setsuna]], what is going on in the area, having deduced that the Wind Tribe are supposed to be neutral; Azama and Setsuna dodge the question and instead talk about how Setsuna is sinking in quicksand, resulting in Hinoka stating that she'll have to get Setsuna out of this situation. Hinoka returns to the question at hand, stating that [[Ryoma]] and [[Takumi]] can help her once they catch up to them; the battle begins at this point. Should Corrin speak with Hinoka, Corrin explains the group's plight to Hinoka, with Ryoma and Takumi having gone missing in particular focus; Corrin then explains why the battle is currently going on and what they plan to do when they can finally speak with Fuga. Once the group crosses into the northern half of the map, Fuga calls out toward Corrin and, upon Corrin attempting to talk to Fuga, but he states that Corrin must earn the right to explain and has to fight him with honor.

Once the battle ends, Fuga states that Corrin has proven themselves worthy to explain his/her group's plight, first talking about the [[Yato]] and Fuga's friendship with [[Sumeragi]] with Corrin's skill with the Yato being why Fuga needed to put Corrin to the test; after Fuga explains a bit more about the Yato, he states that he knew Corrin didn't intend to attack innocents along the Eternal Stairway, after which Fuga offers a meal to Corrin's group, to which Corrin refuses stating that they have no time due to Ryoma's and Takumi's plight. Once Corrin's group leaves the scene, Corrin and Azura speak about what Fuga stated about the Yato and in particular how it can be linked to a seal; Fuga catches up with the group and offers the services of one of his [[diviner]]s, [[Hayato]], whom he wants to learn more about the world outside the Wind Tribe village.
