Reincarnation (chapter)

“ | We still don't have all the information on what [Mirages] truly are. But we've confirmed that they reside in areas known as Idolaspheres... and cause harm to humans. Their existence lies beyond that of our physical realm... so conventional weaponry doesn't really faze them. The only thing that can stop a Mirage is the power of another Mirage. | ” | — Maiko |

Reincarnation (chapter)/Script
The game opens with a scene in an opera house. In the audience, a young Tsubasa Oribe watches her older sister and idol Ayaha Oribe perform alongside renown actor Chikaomi Tsurugi in an opera production. Suddenly all the people in the opera house begin to disappear as if by magic. This continues until only Tsubasa is saved by an unknown force, leaving her all alone in a now empty building.
Five years later, Itsuki Aoi heads to the Daitama Observatory shortly after high school. Once there, his friend Touma Akagi sends him a Topic, informing Itsuki that he is running late and will meet up with him later. As Itsuki explores the place, he runs into Tsubasa. The two talk for a bit, but Tsubasa abruptly leaves after being asked why she was at Daitama. Itsuki decides to watch the One of Millennium auditions as he waits for Touma to arrive.
During the auditions, the host Teru Gojuin interview the contestants until it is Tsubasa's turn. Itsuki is surprised that Tsubasa is on stage and briefly catches a glimpse of a mysterious hooded figure behind her. Gojuin asks Tsubasa what kind of idol she wants to be and why, and Tsubasa replies that she wants to be an idol that makes people happy because a friend once did so for her when she was depressed for a time. Gojuin follows up on why Tsubasa was depressed and correctly guesses it was because of the disappearance of her sister. He then announces that he had invited Ayaha as a guest, but reveals it was all a trap as a bunch of hooded figures appear. The figures attack the audience and make most of them fall unconscious, while Tsubasa is taken through a strange new doorway. Desperate to save her, Itsuki decides to follow them though the doorway.
On the other side, Itsuki finds himself in a strange and unknown place. He briefly meets a mysterious girl, who asks him to hurry before disappearing. While searching the area, he witnesses one of the other contestants become possessed by a hooded figure, with Gojuin implying the same will happen to Tsubasa. Itsuki then hears a voice behind him and turns to find a hooded figure chasing him. He flees from them and runs into a building where he finds Tsubasa being attacked by another hooded figure. The first figure continues to pursue and attacks Itsuki, but then a shining orb appears from Itsuki's chest. He uses this orb to attack the figure, dissolving the hood to reveal a ghostly man in blue. The ghostly man offers to cover to Itsuki while he saves Tsubasa, at which shortly another shining orb appears from Tsubasa's chest. Itsuki uses this orb the attack the other figure, this time revealing a ghostly woman in pink.
Finding themselves surrounded by more hooded figures, Itsuki and Tsubasa transform into their new Carnage Forms (complete with anime transformation sequence), with the ghostly figures transforming into their weapons. After the battle, everyone reverts back to their normal outfits and forms. The ghostly man and woman introduce themselves as Chrom and Caeda respectively, but have no memory beyond their names.
While looking for a way to leave, Touma sends another Topic asking if Itsuki is okay then informs them to find a round building. After defeating a sudden ambush, Itsuki asks what the shining orbs the monsters keep leaving behind are. Chrom and Caeda answer that they are Performa; a power that comes naturally from humans but for beings like them it provides sustenance and power.
Upon entering the designated building, the group is confronted by Gojuin. Touma arrives at that moment and reveals he possess the same power Itsuki and Tsubasa gained earlier. The three of them are able to defeat Gojuin, removing the monster that was possessing him and leaving him unconscious. Touma introduces his partner Cain to his friends then scolds Itsuki for scaring him by running into the Idolasphere. He then explains that the monsters are called "Mirages" and humans who fight alongside them are "Mirage Masters".
As they all near the exit, they are ambushed and surrounded by a group of Mirages. However, a woman calls out to them and defeats all the Mirages with an ice spell. Their rescuer turns out to be Kiria Kurono, which surprises Tsubasa, leading the latter to a moment of fangirling before the former leaves.
Once they exit the Idolasphere, the group is approached by Maiko Shimazaki. Touma tells her that Itsuki and Tsubasa are his friends and that they now have the powers of Mirage Masters. Maiko introduces herself as the leader of those who investigate Mirage incidents. She explains that while little is known about Mirages, they do know that they reside in Idolaspheres and can only be harmed by those with the power of a Mirage. Upon hearing that being a Mirage Master is a rare ability, Tsubasa volunteers to help out. Maiko asks if Tsubasa is Ayaha's sister and wonders if she thinks that joining will help find Ayaha. Tsubasa confirms this, admitting she was trying to get into the entertainment industry to find Ayaha and is willing to do anything she can to find her. Maiko accepts her request and then turns to Itsuki, who also agrees to help. After a bit, Maiko asks Touma to take them to the "hidden base" as she runs some errands. Touma questions why she called it as such but agrees to show them.

Strategy
This section details unofficial strategies that may help with completion of the chapter. This may not work for everybody. |
On most difficulties, this section of the game can be a bit tricky if the player is not mindful of their HP. The Attack command is a good option to fall back on if you're worried about EP, but you should still take advantage of the Skills especially when Sessions become unlocked. The dungeon itself is short and linear, and provides enough healing items that you should take advantage of. Tsubasa's Dia skill can also be used in the menu outside of battle if needed.
Before the boss there is a large green orb that can be used for a free full heal. You can use the surrounding area to grind on Mirages for a bit, but overall it is not needed. Note that the green orb is a bit misleading as it implies you should look for these in later dungeons, when in reality you should do most of your full healing at vending machines (which does cost money, but you earn more than enough during a playthrough to worry about it).
Overall the boss itself is not very hard, especially thanks to Touma, who's Skewer skill will allow both Itsuki and Tsubasa to session off of him. If the boss uses the skill "You got three choices!" and transform into three Blobs, look for the one that has a smoky particle effect; that is the real one.
If you're playing on Lunatic, then you're in for a tough time. In order to regain your needed EP, leave at least one enemy alive and wait for them to drain their EP so they can't attack anymore. Then spend the next few rounds spamming Guard, which will recover 2 EP each time.
Trivia
- On the stats screen during the first battle before Chrom or Caeda are able to introduce themselves, they are labeled as "Ghostly Man" and "Ghostly Woman" respectively.
- This doesn't extend to Cain, as his name can be seen on the stats screen before he is properly introduced.
