Castor (Japanese: Kashim) is a hunter from Talys. He constantly seeks money to aid his poor family and ill mother, progressing from taking mercenary jobs to working with pirates to eventually becoming an outright swindler as the years pass.

In his desperation for money, Castor took up work with the Galder pirates. He was approached by Caeda who, dismayed that a decent man like him had to work with pirates for gold, offered to give him enough money to aid his family. Touched by this generosity, Castor joined her in Marth's burgeoning army.

analysis
Castor is the sole playable member of the Hunter class, making him a somewhat unique unit. His strongest attribute is his availability, as he joins in Chapter 2 and comes early enough to contribute to most of the game, and his early recruitment means he has some chapters where you haven't recruited enough stronger units yet to justify dropping him. His base stats are decent for an early recruit, with a fairly decent 7 strength, 7 skill, 6 weapon level, and 6 speed, but with a somewhat disappointing 4 defense. His strength and skill growths are decent enough to maintain a solid level in each, but his lackluster growths in areas such as defense and weapon level hurt him a lot—his weapon level will probably remain too low to use the Parthia without the Manual, his low defense growth only compounds his frailty and his average speed growth is unreliable in getting him to late-game doubling thresholds without a Speed Ring. Also, his movement of 6 is mediocre, and due to only being able to counter-attack at 2-range he will have a hard time contributing on enemy phase. Overall, Castor is a decent unit in the early-game, but he will quickly be surpassed by better units.

Analysis
Analysis
Analysis
Castor is the second bow user recruited, and his stats are superior to Gordin's upon arrival. His greater Strength and movement helps him keep up and deal decent chip damage, and his Speed, while not high enough to double attack, is at least enough to avoid getting doubled by slower enemies. The early chapters are quite difficult, so Castor is useful for his ability to weaken enemies without being countered. His Strength and Speed growths are decent by Shadow Dragon standards, but his inability to fight on enemy phase causes him to level up slowly. His promotion to Horseman greatly improves his movement, but he will likely outlive his usefulness by the time that becomes an option. Overall, Castor is a unit who is helpful early on but will be outdone in his niche by Jeorge, the ballisticians, and others in the long-term.

I have a sick mother and younger brother back home, and must get money for them. When I heard this city had people who could hire me, I went this far without eating or drinking...
— Castor, to Rickard

Castor (Japanese: カシム Kashim) is a hunter from Talys. He constantly seeks money to aid his poor family and ill mother, progressing from taking mercenary jobs to working with pirates to eventually becoming an outright swindler as the years pass.

Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light

Role

In his desperation for money, Castor took up work with the Galder pirates. He was approached by Caeda who, dismayed that a decent man like him had to work with pirates for gold, offered to give him enough money to aid his family. Touched by this generosity, Castor joined her in Marth's burgeoning army.

Analysis

This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience.

Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem

Book 1

Role

As in Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light, in his desperation for money, Castor took up work with the Galder pirates. He was approached by Caeda who, dismayed that a decent man like him had to work with pirates for gold, offered to give him enough money to aid his family. Touched by this generosity, Castor joined her in Marth's burgeoning army.

If the character's value for one of those two stats is higher than their promoted class's base value, they will not receive any bonus in that stat.

Book 2

Role

In the years since the War of Shadows, the death of his sister Leen in Port Warren, who had sold herself into slavery in her own attempt to raise money for her mother, had driven Castor to increased desperation in his efforts to find money.[1] He became a swindler out of desperation to prevent this from happening to his family again, and eventually made his way to Macedon, where he encountered Marth. After giving him some of his own money, Castor rejoined Marth's army out of (possibly exaggerated) gratitude.

Fire Emblem: Archanea Saga

Role

Castor, Navarre, Lena and Rickard plan the heist

Castor had travelled to the Archanean capital on the prospect of finding a well-paying job, and was found there by Rickard, apparently dehydrated, swindling Rickard into giving him a drink. On hearing of the prospect of receiving significant amounts of gold, he eagerly joins Rickard and Lena's group to enter and rob the castle.

Analysis

This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience.

Fire Emblem: New Mystery of the Emblem

Role

As in Mystery of the Emblem, in the years since the War of Shadows, the death of his sister Leen in Port Warren, who had sold herself into slavery in her own attempt to raise money for her mother, had driven Castor to increased desperation in his efforts to find money. He became a swindler out of desperation to prevent this from happening to his family again, and eventually made his way to Macedon, where he encountered Marth. After giving him some of his own money, Castor rejoined Marth's army out of (possibly exaggerated) gratitude.
