The Paladin (パラディン, Paradin) class is a class of strong soldiers on horseback. Cavaliers change class to paladins in most games, although there are some exceptions. Paladins first appear in Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light, and they have appeared in every game since except for Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, in which it is divided into the Blade Paladin, Lance Paladin, Axe Paladin, and Bow Paladin classes. Usually, they can use multiple weapons, which have varied greatly throughout the games. See the stats section for details.
Paladins are very strong units with great stats in all categories. They have no clear weaknesses, and their fast movement makes them even more useful. They are a very versatile class that can survive in many situations. Since they are promoted units, they naturally have high stats.
Usually, cavaliers change class to paladins, but there are several exceptions. In Gaiden, they promote from the Cavalier class and can change class again to the Gold Knight class. In Seisen no Keifu and Thracia 776, cavaliers or troubadours can become paladins. In The Sacred Stones, cavaliers can change class to paladins or great knights. In Path of Radiance, sword knights, lance knights, axe knights, and bow knights can all become paladins.
